MEANWHILE, as Steven would say, the Havana Syndrome remains a scary collection of data points.

Re: A local story
At what point in this saga did the GOP decide the sheriff and his family were not good party leadership? Did he not wear his MAGA hat to court?

16 Apr is National Bean Counter Day
In honor of this momentous occasion, I am reminded of a basic question: Why does the perfect bowl of bean soup contain 239 beans?
Because if it had one more, it would be two forty.
You welcome. Snailgate.

Re: The Truth vs. Alex Jones
As I read this thread and thought about the thread on the leaning tower of NPR/PBS, I had a question: is the real result of mass internet availability that lesser truth equals a bigger audience?

Thank you all. Everyday I see new data that causes me to bless the guidance of the god of Luddites that I do not participate in online social media.
Hay wait a minute. Did I just commit blasphemy? Is this a sub-category of social media?

Re: Johnson & Trump Want to Outlaw Illegal Things......
I am a natural - born citizen through no effort and no honor that I have earned. But I am deeply offended by the process by which others now become 'naturalized ' citizens. They must swear an oath that they end all loyalty to any other sovereignty or potentate. That makes sense to me. And then our d...

I just noticed the 'we all love puns' thread has had way more than a hundred thousand views. Is that a record for this forum?

Re: Havana Syndrome
No amount of military action in Mexico, Columbia or even China will 'win the war on drugs.' The flow of illegal drugs is powered by the almighty dollar and the high demand for that product. As long as the demand is there on the streets of America, somebody will supply it.

OK I have had a religions conversion experience. I once was a sinner, who followed the low road of fear of AI. Now I have seen the light. A great heavenly future of political satire. If only the Trump family had the wisdom of Sanford and Son. Here even their sense of fashion is improved. snailgate

Re: NOW is when McCarthy chooses to find his voice?
Wait a minute. What is the range of this Odiousness Scale? What does Lauren Boebert of Colorado score? Is it a logarithmic scale? Does it max out at 14, like the pH scale? Or is it ten, like the ideosyncratic informal female sexiness scale of the male culture? [Is that one an off shoot of the seriou...

Re: Havana Syndrome
I think there is a heavy case of self pride here. As a very young kid I was sold a bill of goods on the superiority of the good ol' USA in everything. Japan only made cheap junk. Then in 1961 I was shocked to see parked on the street in Germany a Honda motorcycle with the tach clearly redlined at 9,...

Here in beautiful downtown Bear, Delaware it was cloudy overcast and I barely noticed it. We were theoretically on the edge of the 90% shadow.

Re: National Public Radio, so left it leans on the ground
The Hunter Biden computer story was very personal to me. The computer guy who had the mysterious hard drive with lots of juicy stuff on it was a very important guy for me. He ran a one man business in a little business neighbor hood that also had the dentist who did a root canal on me that was less ...

Re: 2024 Presidential polls and projections
I guess it is fortunate that tomorrow is Tuesday, but not the first Tuesday in November. Way back in 1969 a had a graduate Poli Sci class on elections in the USofA. It was taken as well established that the voters who decided their votes at the last minute, were also the least informed voters and ma...

People I know and respect told me way back when Les Mis was the hot ticket on broadway that this was a great demonstration of musical theater. Live theater, even local community productions, have been beyond my finances back then, and now. Now suicide is a primary focus for my life. IMNSHO, professi...

Re: Arise citizens!
I had to revive this thread because I just watched the 2012 movie version of Les Miserables. I have a question, but I liked seeing these posters that I have missed greatly. What is the general evaluation of the music in this stage/cinematic production? For reason that are not relevant here, I am foc...

People are crazy? I have friends in Texas that tell me there are believed stories of food (and toilet paper) shortages to be caused by this fairly common event. (Happens somewhere on this planet about every 18 months,.)
