Re: And the award for the best shade throwing goes to...

If a dog is killing chickens, then it has not been properly trained, i.e. the fault of a human, not the dog. Killing the dog because you have failed to train it properly visits your sin on the dog. Makes you a sociopath. This. My first dog as an adult was a blue tick coonhound mix I adopted from th...

Re: Here's Some Sound Legal Advice for Anyone Who is Pulled Over a Police Officer....

The original video sounds like sovereign citizen BS. I wish the person who posted it to YouTube from TikTok had provided a citation to the original source so I could look up the blond women in the original video - one of them strongly resembles a woman I saw speaking at a Christian Nationalist Trump...

Re: Rebels Without a Clue

PRESSURE TO END APARTHEID BEGAN AT GRASS ROOTS IN U.S. They are young and full of idealism, and thank goodness for that. They may not know all the ins and outs of how their universities, or the universities in the city where they live, are invested in Israel and support for the current right wing i...

Re: The God of Spinoza

Well to be fair, I think that piece is meant to be quoting Einstein's description of Spinoza's God, and the term egomaniac has been in usage since 1890 so it certainly wouldn't be out of Einstein's wheelhouse, considering that Einstein and Freud engaged in lengthy correspondence.

The God of Spinoza

I found this online and it was not attributed. When Einstein gave lectures at U.S. universities, the question students asked him most was: Do you believe in God? And he always answered: I believe in the God of Spinoza. Baruch de Spinoza was a Dutch philosopher considered one of the great rationalist...

Re: Home for Random Thoughts

However mean your life is, meet and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. It looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults even in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, ev...

Re: SCOTUS arguments on presidential immunity

I agree with you Big RR; I listened to the arguments in full and felt very much like democracy was hanging in the balance. I don't think there should be any immunity from criminal law for any office holder at any level in a democracy. Plenty of functional democracies around the globe have tried and ...

Re: 40 years ago?????

She loved the experience, because she loved me and I was clearly delighted with it all. I think she was a little embarrassed by the sex parts, which isn't a shocking response from a grandma after all. Also at the age I was then (13) I hadn't quite grasped the scope of my grandma's life, which began ...

Re: 40 years ago?????

Yes, I saw it happen from my grandmother's car at a drive-in movie theater in Hyannis, Massachusetts! My grandma thought it was all so silly.

SCOTUS arguments on presidential immunity

Very interesting and well worth a listen if you didn't get to catch it live as I am.
