Re: A warning on internet stalkers.

Wow. I knew she was madder than Mad Jack McMad but I think that is too far. My humble opinion is that a ban is necessary in this case. Nobody should have to put up with that.

Re: Loose Ends (2) Rounding Does Not Involve Infinitudes

Oh dear, this again. I don't currently have much time so I shall post this and might be able to read any replies, but won't try to explain it all again. This is my last post on this because it is getting pointless: in previous posts, when I have quoted subject matter experts, Andrew has simply respo...

As does the church of "I'm gonna talk crap and ignore any questions about the crap because I have no clue what I am saying most of the time"

Re: Church of Apple Concept Store Begins Testing

That was the point. Yes. Then I don't think I understand your post when you said While his form of pancreatic cancer is somewhat indolent there is absolutely no way to know if having surgery 6 mos earlier would have had any effect on the outcome. It is equally possible that it had already metastisi...

Well obviously. No oncologist would ever say "definitely".

Re: Mama, Don't Take My Kodachrome Away

Thanks for the considered reply Quad. Clearly you know more about this sort of stuff than I do. Interesting your quote from Bob Dylan. I feel that a lot of his stuff is sung out of tune and his timing is often awful, so I am not sure he is a good one to comment. (Don't get me wrong - I really love h...

Re: Mama, Don't Take My Kodachrome Away

Pretty much everything I have seen on the web recently states that analogue is NOT better than digital (and vice versa) with statements such as "But which is better? It usually comes down to what you are used to." "Excellent, expensive analog systems may outperform digital systems, and vice versa; i...

Gotta agree with BSG. Everything I have read says that his form of cancer was highly treatable and while he would not have been guaranteed a positive result from using modern medicine, it is highly likely that he would have been cured.

Re: Church of Apple Concept Store Begins Testing

they demonstrated that the same part of the brain got excited. All that seems to demonstrate to me is that when people get excited about something, the same part of the brain gets stimulated. I suspect you'd have gotten similar results if you compared the "fervour" of the Apple folks to devoted sur...

Re: Mama, Don't Take My Kodachrome Away

Digi cams have come a long way, but even cheap 35mms take better pics, digi recording repalced analog tape and we have crappy color balance, motion and pixellating, digi music replaced analog and now the best recordings on the best machines sound like you got bad signal transistors...the list goes ...

Very true, lo (not sure about worship though - think you are wrong there). Of course, the thread talks of religion and not prayer, so not really relevant.

Sweden recognises new file-sharing religion Kopimism

A "church" whose central tenet revolves around the right to file-share has been formally recognised by the Swedish government. The Church of Kopimism claims that "kopyacting" - sharing information through copying - is akin to a religious service. The "spiritual leader" of the church said recognitio...

Re: Church of Apple Concept Store Begins Testing

I saw a TV program last year about Apple fanboys where they demonstrated that the fervour some get with Apple products is very much akin to the fervour some get with religion - they demonstrated that the same part of the brain got excited.

Church of Apple Concept Store Begins Testing

If you've been a longtime faithful Apple follower your vision of the company's retail store is about to be reborn. Following a one day shut down in mid January, a handful of older Apple stores will officially reopen as The Church of Apple, according to a detailed Scoopertino news report. “It’s a na...

Re: Westboro Atheists

The comparison to Westboro Baptist Church is inapt. No atheist is barging into a church service -- or even standing outside one -- screaming "Reason Hates Christians" or "Thank Secularism For Dead Christians." Actually it is oddly apt if you consider both blatantly violate what they claim to believ...

Re: Nonsense on stilts

England is a country with Christian traditions that go as far back, and are as essential, as the monarchy Well since the monarchy is pretty pointless - at least completely nonessential, then I read from your words, surprisingly, that you believe religion is nonessential. Nice one :D Anyway, paganis...
