True, but it might to many others.but it won’t matter to the MAGA mob nor to many in the country who don’t understand how the law works and are just being confused and inflamed by these developments.

Re: Terrorist Blonde Woman Rams ICE Vehicle!!
The federal government has just barred Minnesota law enforcement agencies from cooperative investigation of this incident Does this mean they are barred from investigating altogether (I would be surprised to see the federal government has the authority to order that) or only that the FBI will not c...

Re: Terrorist Blonde Woman Rams ICE Vehicle!!
I tend to agree with Sue on this, But I am unsure if the state could make an argument that the federal officer was not acting within his authority in the shooting and thus subject to state prosecution (as I believe their immunity requires this. I am pretty sure there should be cases on this, but II ...

Re: For Sale: Baby shoes, never worn
Ihad measles and was fine; most of us in that time were. But i do recall a few kids being hospitalized for measles, and heard of a baby dying from it. Measles was a pretty serious disease.

Re: A day that will live in infamy
Actuall, the bigger "Day of Infamy" was when Trump was reelected after the Jan 6 events. That is a much bigger threat to our system of government.

FWIW, even though it is a bit of a pain in the ass, I doubt it will be much of a process. From what i understand, ETIAS will be relatively painless; sure they bitch about tourists, but most places realize they are essential to their economy.

Re: There's Always a Tweet
Fwiw, I'm not sure the Monroe doctrine has any applicability here; it was Monroe's statement that European leaders should leave the Americas alone, not an excuse to kidnap a foreign head of state and say you had the right to do so. Of course, if he had referred to the Bush 1 doctrine... Not to menti...

Re: A man who made a real positive difference in the world
I have exactly the opposite feeling; having to sit and wait for the single attendant on 5 or 6 islands come to do something i could have already finished just annoys me; I'd much rather pump, pay, and go. Indeed, probably half the time I go and remove the hose from the tank and put it back on the pu...

And the EU will have a similar thing (ETIAS) beginning in 2026. We have a trip to Spain planned in October and are watching when it will start. So be warned - travel to the UK has this new thing
Re: Sinners
Well it's not exactly subtle, but if you're going for mass market appeal vampires will get more eyeballs than a talky little indie rumination.
Re: Sinners
It's worth a watch, but I think the point could have been made better without including vampires. I understand the metaphor the director/writer were trying to use, but I thought it was heavy handed. The music, on the other hand, was a lot of fun.

But it didn't feel like Christmas. Sorry to hear that, but a consequence of aging is that people will pass and things will change; things will change a lot over our lifetimes, but we need to move forward rather than in reverse. While gathering of the family can mean Christmas, there are other ways ...

Re: Trump's New Battleship....
Hegseth and Trump are, of course, playing a clever game by pretending to be morons with no moral sense and very inflated views of their own intelligence and wisdom thus lulling our enemies into a false sense of security. Yeah, sure-- pretending to be morons.    False sense of s...

Re: The Trump-Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
Not living in DC, I have never been to the Kennedy Center, but now I have a reason not to go. And no one can make the audiences (or performers for that matter go; maybe a big drop off in both will show the trustees what asses they have been. And FWIW, no one can make anyone call it the Trump Kennedy...

Re: WWIII? Or just a little fuckery?
I remember when liberals were claiming that Trump was a coward; well, he’s proved he’s not a coward, that much seems clear. But he might have a worse problem than cowardice. I think Trump has a phobia of failure; he can’t tolerate losing, he always has to be on the winning side, no matter what that...

Re: Top 10 Movies
Meade--do I think theaters will be victims of separation culture? I hope not, but think that's what the Hollywood studios are afraid of (and I think why the big budget special effects films rule right now), Indeed, before cable TV, I think the studios put nudity (often gratuitous nudity) in films to...

Re: Top 10 Movies
All good films, with some great ones including Taxi Driver, Chinatown, The Conversation (I already mentioned Apocalypse Now in my previous 10). FWIW, I do think a lot of the films released since the 90s have strayed significantly from the sort of films I like, but there are still some good ones ther...

Not to mention how many will likely not be caucasian; or how many will be the children of the recent immigrants.
