Re: Guess who is looking to be Trump's VP
Nah--I think he's just positioning himself for the nomination if Trump cannot accept it (for whatever reason--maybe a bullet, maybe a health crisis, the possibilities are boundless). I seriously doubt any person with an IQ over 80 would want to be Trump's VP.

Re: SETI
Duck and cover was also proof that we were aware enough to understand what we brought about, but not enough to do anything about it other than pass it on to our kids as "business as usual". When I was in primary school, I was almost certain that we would have a major nuclear war before I was 21, and...

Re: God & Country
I guess it is South Africal; the first flag I saw online must have been an old one.

Re: God & Country
Meade--Last I checked, Christmas is a federal holiday, but your point is well taken. Then again, I think it's all part of the same plan, or at least the way it is marketed--the mythical "war" on Christmas or christianity is used as a rallying cry to get the masses to line up behind a lot of the idio...

Re: God & Country
No argument there--I'm more than willing to embrace diversity of views; and, IMHO, the "christian" nationalists are entitled to their own views as well. But letting the government weigh in on what is acceptable is a double edged sword. I can't see why they'd take that chance, but I guess they're wag...

Re: God & Country
Not to mention that the other problem, form a religion's point of view, is that when you invite the government to interact with religion and endorse it, you run the real risk of having government dictate religious doctrine (or at least acceptable religious doctrines)--so in school prayerleads o the ...

Re: Biden is a coward
They needed a strong military commander with the power to be able to keep the country safe from invasion regardless of what else was happening at the time. Of course they did; that's why they disbanded all but a small portion of the continental army and fought like hell against funding even a small...

I tend to agree; Brady is a jerk, always has been, and is only out for number one. He played football well and earned his money, but that doesn't make him any less of a jerk. Were his ex-wife and kids there?

Re: Seinfeld's rant about political correctness killing comedy didn't age well...
I did not see the roast (and have not seen one for a long time, but there is a lot to be said for eschewing political correctness under the right circumstances. Lenny Bruce made a career of it, and some of his routines I have heard are pure genius. But the point is, the audience has to know what to ...

Re: Biden is a coward
And, thus, the imperial presidency continued with him, much as he tried to claim he was against it. I think a lot of people would be happier with a king who could rule autocratically, and most presidents would prefer it as well, despite their protestations to the contrary.

Re: Biden is a coward
Actually Meade, I did, and I am not certain of the particularities of that law; however, even if the author is correct that Biden could "legally" do this, I personally do not think a president should give military aid to a country that Congress has expressly said the US should not given such aid, or...

Meade--I have one I can sell you; never used. I'm selling it at a loss, but it takes up too much room. No reasonable offer refused.

Re: Biden is a coward
It didn't have to be this way if Biden had the courage to act six months ago the situation would be a lot better now. If Biden had just dropped the Mamma May I crap and sent the weapons from the warehouses he controlled the Ukrainians would be in a lot better positioned now. My God he's Commander i...

STFU is taking the fifth. And, you are correct, it does not protect you from civil forfeiture--not much does. and you could be both beaten and then the victim of a civil forfeiture--although you could prevent yourself from being the vicitim of a civil forfeiture by always driving someone else's car....

Re: Rebels Without a Clue
I don't know, they sometimes get their point across, be it nonviolent civil rights protests or large scale encampments like Occupy Wall Street. Violence can achieve results, but sometimes not the results you want.

Re: Here's Some Sound Legal Advice for Anyone Who is Pulled Over a Police Officer....
Can't argue with that; it's hard to do, but it works. I had a client apprehended at the border who was seeking asylum and told her not to say anything ujnless I or another lawyer (I was working with a group representing undocumented persons at the time) was present. This is not easy, especally as sh...

Re: Rebels Without a Clue
Clearing the encampments prompted some fighting back, resisting arrest; hardly surprising since the cops were treating them as rioters, so why not act as them. In schools where the administration resisted calling in the cops, like Rutgers, the encampments were eventually abandoned voluntarily. And t...
