Re: Thoughts on the Correspondents' Dinner Shooting....
Well I don't believe it was staged, but then i do believe it might have been staged. Then again, I also believe that Oswald might not have acted alone, that Sirhan might well have been an otherwise innocent brainwashed/hypnotized person sent to kill Bobby, and that FDR might not have died but went t...

The first opera I ever saw was Amahl and the Night Visitors at the Brooklyn Academy of Music--I guess they gave free tickets to the pubic schools and we went (I don't even recall how--we might have taken the city bus). I was pretty young (maybe third grade), but I recall liking the spectacle of it--...

You apparently dismiss biology entirely. Of course there is an ideal age to reproduce, and it’s not in the geriatric age range - the science on that is abundantly clear and not even controversial. No, biology plays a part, but there are many men in the "geriatric" age range have produced healthy ba...

Some great music there Sue; I especially love Cavaleria Rusticana. And your next season looks great. We just finished up Saturday with a concert dubbed "Choral Fireworks" comprising the Handel Coronation anthems (I don't love the lyrics (how many times can you sing "God Save the King"?), but Handel'...

Exactly what is "bogus" there? The credentials of Burns? His inability to understand Scooter's post if he ever saw it? His misunderstanding of what golden calves are and why graven images are to be avoided? It might be debatable to some, but it is hardly "bogus".

I think it’s gross to have kids in late middle age or when you are already an elder. Beyond the recent research which points to older sperm factories being linked to so many adverse health outcomes for offspring, it’s not right to embark on being a dad or mom when you have the energy and life expec...

As my mom always said, show me your friends and I'll show you who you are. And I think that is especially true about Epstein's friends, like Trump.

FWIW, I am not sure that the modern NE Congregational Churches have rules governing apostasy or heresy; I do know that some of the other churches which act congregationally (like the UCC), are pretty open to each person discovering god on their own journeys; some may have some rules governing belief...

I iwll usually answerthe dooe, but during this time of year (when the Jehovah's Witnesses and mormons are proselytizing) I will sometimes not answer if I see (through the window or on ring) that the persons at the dooe are likely of that ilk. I do not want to listen to what they have to "sell", and ...

That must be a regional things; I've never heard "you guys" in a restaurant, whether fancy or budget. Usualy it's just second person "What can I get you?" or "have you decided?" or "would you like to order?". but I have heard guys in other venues like the multiplex movies--"What theater are you guys...

And plenty of people here drive large SUV-type vehicles - it seems as if there are more every time I come. Many more electric vehicles here than in the US. I'd guess most of them get company supplied cars which pay for those expenses. When I worked for a British company, most of the people in the U...

Seriously, do you have any idea how good a performer one has to be to convince people that you actually believe what you're saying, and to maintain such a straight face and serious demeanor even as you recite lines as idiotic as those? It didn't convince me he legitimately believed it, and no deart...

While I really don't care what he has to say (He's still the same Charles as he was and his coronation has changed nothing (it certainly didn't imbue him with any genius)), but the fact that it could tweak Trump and his minions in a backhanded way makes it amusing. At least he's notplaying the part ...

No, they'd say Madam Butterfly shows why miscegenation doesn't work and how god (small g) forced the hand of the asian temptress to take her own life and free the entranced Lt Pinkerton from her clutches. Makes about as much sense as the way he summarizes Carmen--the men are not the narcissists, the...

And, just from a legal perspective, you couldn't copyright a string of letters or a word. Trademark maybe (if the other requirements are met), but copyright is not intended to limit the use of a word. And I'd bet even the communists would agree (but Sue, I defer to you
