Re: Merry Christmas, y'all!
My youngest son still works at the Wildlife park and he worked this morning (the animals insist on being fed and cleaned etc - don't they know it's a special holiday time!! :D ), so our celebrations didn't start until he got home. For me and my other two sons that meant a lovely lazy sleep in a leis...

Re: Plan B's Person of the Year Award - OOPS! I forgot Alice
Wow .... :ta: :-D Thanks, Lord Jim for your very kind comments in the news and suggestions thread, and for directing me to here. I know it's only an online forum and this is just a bit of fun, but I'm honestly, genuinely, touched. I really thought my presence was almost unnoticed and it's me...

Re: oldr_n_wsr's alcoholic adventure
As opposed to the above post, I'm feeling a little "wierd". I have been catching myself being overly cynical lately. Usually I catch myself before I say or do somthing stupid. Don't know why. Guess it's just lifes (and ones moods) ups and downs. I'll mention it to my sponsor tonight at the meeting....

Re: Our website's moved..
I have to shamefully admit I'd forgotten about your blog. I'll dig back through my PM's and find the address, and will look in on it when I have a bit of spare time. I'd love to see all the stories about your trip - You write very well and humorously, and I can travel vicariously through your storie...

Re: If you liked school, you'll love work!
Good news Alice, and good to see you back. Thank you Gob You always make me feel welcome, no matter how long I've been 'away'!! I know I'm an infrequent visitor nowadays, but this place isn't forgotten. :-) Sometimes if I haven't been here for a while I feel that I missed heaps - this is sort of li...

Re: If you liked school, you'll love work!
I started a holiday from 16 December. I have to go in for two days, on 2nd and 3rd January, but then I'm off again until 13 Jan. I haven't had this much continous time off for six years - and that time it wasn't for pleasant reasons. Since then I've had a few mini-holidays - a few days off here and ...

Re: oldr_n_wsr's alcoholic adventure
I hope your dad's okay oldr-n-wsr . ... and you're doing great with the not-drinking. I have a family member with liver and other damage due to alcohol - constantly being scared about what she's doing to her body and the possible end result, being in tears before doctor's visits because of fearing '...

Re: BSG's "Complaints"....
.... rather than start a whole new thread, I'll just use this one (It seems to be full of random stuff anyway) I just wanted to say a big hello to everyone. I lurked a little, but not enough to keep up with all the posts. I hope everyone is in reasonably good health and that life is treating you all...

ANZAC Day 25 April 2013
What is ANZAC Day? ANZAC Day – 25 April – is probably Australia's most important national occasion. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. (However) ANZAC Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Ga...

Re: Educating dog owners
If they insist on taking the dog for a walk without having proper effective control of the animal they could look at more effective restraints to minimise the danger to others. - If the dog sometimes gets off the lead, get a proper harness and lead, instead of just a collar and lead - if they had a ...

Re: You Sad Pathetic Man...
After today I probably won't be back at the site (posting, at least) for a while - nothing to do with the forum; just the usual life stuff - I wish I had more time and envy those that do. :-( My question is why is it the 'right' thing? When Joe writes: "What is right by nature is not something we de...

Re: Gun control : Whoopty -doo
It's not funny, it's sad, because it demonstrates the pathetic, ignorant, uninformed lies that the gun nuts resort to when they feel threatened. The Second Amendment is *not* sacrosanct. No Amendment is. Look at what the conservatives (Senator Graham) want to do to the 5th and 6th Amendments right ...

Re: Gun control : Whoopty -doo
Thank you Lord Jim , that's really gentlemanly of you and I appreciate it very much. I probably should have put it in 'Laffs', because my main aim was that I thought it was amusing - not because I was trying to make a political point. But then I thought that if anyone was upset by it, then the 'Laff...

Re: RIP Chrissy Amphlett
She was awesomely edgy as a singer. I remember seeing an interview with her from a couple of years ago, and being struck by how very nice, and how humble she was. Cold Chisel's official statement was, I thought, a great summary: Vale Chrissy Amphlett – our great friend Cold Chisel is deeply saddened...

Gun control : Whoopty -doo
I don't know where this belongs.
It's about gun control
Really sorry.
On the one hand I don't want to post anything that's so divisively upsetting to people.
But on the other hand I found this to be really, really funny amd i wanted to share.

Re: Do you feel your age?
The most annoying thing for me about my age is that my eyes are starting to fail, and I have glasses for reading and close-up work. I used to have excellent eyesight, and find it really annoying to have to be looking for my glasses just so that I can read the fine print on a food package It killed m...
