Re: Bob Dole points out some home truths about "Newtie"

Lord Jim wrote:Territorial Governor Of The Moon, Newt Gingrich ...

That works for me...
It seems he has dreams of getting involved with a younger planet.

Re: Voter I.D.

It would be funny to make the SS card a photo ID, since most middle-class Americans get a SS number as infants to facilitate gifts of bonds and whatnot. Can you imagine going up to vote with a SS-Photo ID showing yourself as an infant? Priceless. My real preference would be to have the IRS issue th...

Re: Why I Like Newt

I fail to understand how an intelligent person could even consider Newt for President. He has an amazing amount of baggage, especially the fact that of him having been the only Speaker of the house ever to have been disciplined for ethics violations. Huntsman is the only one of them I might vote for...

If Newt were to be elected President, in 2 or 3 years he would be fooling around with a younger country.

Henceforth anyone continuing to carp about Obama's birth certificate or any other documentation of his from 20 or more years ago shall be known as an afterbirther.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Why can't Trump provide a certificate proving that thing on his head isn't covering up a steaming pile of shit?

Re: Will Obama be a failure if:

Obama is already a "failure" as a president, since my own political priorities have not been advanced by his administration. However, that doesn't mean I'd want the Republicans anywhere near the levers of power. What the Republicans do that troubles you so much? Let's see, domestically, they squand...

BYU is to be admired for even-handed enforcement of its rules. The star player in question didn't have to go to BYU if he didn't want to promise to obey the rules. Almost any other school would have treated a star athlete differently.

Whoever was directly employing and supervising him should get 80% of the blame. The property manager and the landlord each get 10%. If the videos are on the internet the victims should get a large payment, maybe $75k or $100K each. If the videos are not on the internet, they should get maybe 5 or 10...

Re: High Speed Stupidity, on Steroids

Widespread high speed rail would make sense if the price of gasoline were to rise precipitously. If gas were to cost $7+ per gallon, rail would be the only way most people would be able to travel. I think that is unlikely.

Re: High Speed Stupidity, on Steroids

High speed rail seems like a relative waste. I'd rather see the money spent on infrastructure maintenance. The American Society of Civil Engineers recently gave the US a "D" for infrastructure maintenance.

Re: Palin beware?

Ron Paul won the CPAC straw poll. I would wager that no one who ever won a CPAC straw poll ever became President. Just having been included in that poll could be a handicap in a nationwide election. I never heard of Mitch Daniels before, so he has quite an uphill battle to fight regarding name recog...

I imagine that if you hit a bunch of arrows with an axe you would get arrow tips flying randomly. I neglected to mention earlier these arrows have poisoned tips. Yikes!

Get a bunch of arrows. Pick up one arrow. Take it in both hands and break it over your knee. Easy, eh? Now take a dozen arrows in both hands and try to break them. You may damage your knee instead. Now, have you learned anything? Yep. If you want to bust a bunch of arrows, buy an axe! You are missi...

Is there not a case for abandoning the President and federal government to just a ceremonial role, and have your states as independent "countries"? Your system seems almost self defeating at present. Get a bunch of arrows. Pick up one arrow. Take it in both hands and break it over your knee. Easy, ...

The first time Obama used the word "contentious" Boehner either stifled a belch or threw up in his mouth a little.
