Re: The Hammer
I get the feeling Lib's working hard on developing a sense of humor. BB - well, have to allow for English as a second language in a 20th century person who hails from the American continent. It's a fun game though. There is no worse one-legged man than one who refuses to use one leg. There is no wor...

Jonathan Swift 1738: There are none so blind as those who will not see
"No worse . . .?????" that construction must have been created by an illiterate (probably American) in the 20th century

Re: The Hammer
How is it that the carpenter's hammer can be seen as a symbol of totalitarian fascism or any kind of fascism? (sigh) 'How is it. . .?" because it was chosen. (sigh) they could have chosen bananas, or adjustable wrenches. But my dear, Martel was not known as "the banana" or "the adjustable wrench" w...

Re: The Hammer
You displayed the wrong hammer, which I find interesting since I thought you were a history buff. No, it's the correct hammer. I thought you were a Pink Floyd buff. It symbolizes the march of totalitarian fascism - as exemplified by the current US administration and (presumably) most of your heroes...

Re: The Hammer
That's the tough part, to reconcile a "great and loving plan" with he Holocaust, or the Crusades. Or the Inquisition. Or... Thanks for the post. Agreed. Another sadness is that "the humanist belief in the inherent worth and dignity of individuals" fits just as easily as a "great and loving plan".

Boy, haven't seen much of Stephen since that hilarious thing he did "On Golf". That was very unwoke though.

Re: What kind of commie are you?
Andy, why haven’t you become a citizen if you've been here for forty-one years? The test is not that hard. Never felt the need. I always assumed I would move back to UK where most of my relatives and old friends are. I will probably become a citizen for one reason only - to vote against the Trump a...

Re: What kind of commie are you?
For example, the Chinese have enough people that they could raise enough volunteers to enter our country, become citizens, and paralyze our system. That's nonsense. First, each Chinese citizen would have to satisfy the U.S. government that they were entitled to a "green" card (actually sort of blue...

That is, they should receive the same protection under the law as anyone else , but they shouldn't have the rights of a citizen. That means no right to vote, hold office, donate money to political parties or candidates, participate in demonstrations, or belong to a political party . lib, can you no...

I'm working on Margaretta to allow me to re-arm. Coupla long arms and one not-automatic pistol should do it.

Re: What kind of commie are you?
I was just thinking of Jim this week, and our other dearly departed friends. Miss them all Odd - me too, four nights back while trying to fall asleep. Jim and Ray, Econo and more from before. Don't know why, unless it was rubato snarking once again. Much as I have greatly loving and loved friends (...

Re: Here's an Interesting Website
Yeah, all that's well and good. I took a look at github (from whence all this lovely stuff pends) and can't say that the Wikipedia article filled me with confidence - partly because I don't understand (or care to) what all this techno babble actually means. So, we each gotta make our own way. The be...
