Re: Songs That Wouldn't Get Airplay Today

You have a "machine" that plays "cassettes"? Yes. One is an OLD boom box type that belonged to Mrs Mc's father, and three are in older cars. Hey, two of my MGBs have 8-track players. The tapes for those are as old as the cars. Other cassettes in the box include Fibber McGee and Molly, The Great Gil...

I think Davidson's formal shoes are at least as interesting as her tripping.

Re: Songs That Wouldn't Get Airplay Today

I bought 30 cassettes in a box at an auction for $3 a while back. Three were Ray Stevens tapes. I probably hadn't heard Ahab the Arab in 40 years before that.

Yes BB, the Byrdes are evil, but that's not the premise. The premise is that Marty Byrde agreed to launder money, lots of money, for a drug cartel. It has been interesting, but never funny. Apparently this will be the last "season". I don't know why seasons don't last a whole season anymore. https:/...

It's no wonder you need a van. There are too many of yourselves to fit into a car.
Not to mention all those cloned dogs.

Re: Mechanic's Special

The line for the most sought after collector cars shifts with the age of for the seeker, and what they (we) coveted in high school. Many years ago it was Model A Fords. Then late '30s V-8 Fords. Then it was post war cars, either V-8 Fords or Chevys that had V-8s installed. Lately it has been muscle ...

My Aunt Mable was a "car guy". She taught 1st grade, and spent summers working alongside her husband in a full service gas station. (Remember those?) After he died, she moved to Arizona. Her last car was a pale yellow 1969 Chevy Impala. She was 60 that year, and died when the car was 13. Yup, it had...

DeSantis is scary, but probably not that smart. Why else are so many Texans leaving Texas for Florida in search of of an even stupider governor?

Looks like fun. I would have gone out for racing in high school, had it been offered on the cheap. As it was, I had to wait until college. I joined the K-State Sports Car club at a get together even before classes started. There was either a Time-Speed & Distance Rallye or a parking lot autocross (c...

Re: Why Does This Bother Me?

As I recall, there is a type of advertising that is intentionally annoying in order to get the consumer to recall the product or brand name . Things like "Where's the beef?" or any number of other commercials use this to their advantage. The purpose of a commercial is to evoke a response that will ...

It's probably on it's way down - somewhat. That's the game that the oil industry plays; they latch onto whatever handy excuse to spike prices, suck up as much as they can in windfall profits, then ratchet prices back down before most people seriously contemplate changes that would permanently decre...

Re: What Kind of Fuel Am I?

I drove to Houston last summer. I was driving a 4-cylinder Chevy Malibu. The car got 22.4 MPG on E-85 and 29.9 on E-10. The 8-85 was cheaper, but the cost per mile was just a tad more. Of course there is a large federal subsidy for making E-85. The cost of corn as a feed grain has also risen, making...

I've had insurers who knock 10% off if you do a defensive driving course. I don't think I've had one insist.
Mine too.
I've had a half day AAA course. I found it very enlightening. Unfortunately I can't convince Mrs Mc that she could use the refresher. I love her, but hate to ride with her.

Re: What Kind of Fuel Am I?

I paid $3.249 on the way home last night. It involves a loyalty app on my phone that grabs the $$ right out of my checking account for a $0.25 discount. Some local stations were at $3.799 for regular 10% with ethanol. That is the local "regular" gas. 85% ethanol was $2.899 at one station. Gas with n...

Speaking as a 5x coronary bypass patient (now 10 years and 2 months ago) IIRC you went in shortly after I had two stents done, noting that your symptoms were similar to mine. My cure was much easier. Take care of yourself Econoline. Do what the doctors say. We can't afford to lose any more good pos...
