Re: Are you seeing empty supermarket shelves whee you live?

I haven’t seen any issues, but there are a wealth of stores within 10 minutes of my house (2 Stop & Shops), Shaws, Trader Joe’s, Fresh Market, Whole Foods, and two small local chains, one in my town and one in the next). Most of them have delivery or curbside, which I have used long before the pande...

Re: WORDe LE – The Internet's Newest Favorite Game

I just discovered this today, so I'm waiting to see if the game will be restricted only to words in which all the letters are different, or if words that use the same letter more than once — DRILL, for example, or SIEGE — will eventually turn up. https://www.picgifs.com/emoticons/smileys-and-emotic...

Re: Something to ponder.

Got it - under my user preferences I was only displaying the last month of active posts. No idea how that happened but changed it to “all” and the full archive is available.

Thanks all, for the help. Glad I mentioned it!

Re: Something to ponder.

I’m on an iPhone 11 and running iOS 15.2, and used my user name to search for posts. I get the full list, but then when I click on any specific post I get the error message posted above. Its been on going for some time, but I could not tell you when. Do we still have styles here? I will also check o...

Safari - both iPhone and iPad. I have not been able to see the archives for some time now.

I’m glad they are still available. I’ll have to figure out why I can’t access them.

Re: Something to ponder.

The archive is already mostly gone. The last upgrade cut off access to it (results show up in a search, but if you click on the link, you cannot read or access the full post). So why hang around here, but head somewhere that’s less work and less process.

Re: Something to ponder.

Happy to keep on paying, but I don't have the time or interest to manage the site/keep it paid up. Would someone else be willing to take that over from Gob? The other idea floated once before (@W, I think) was using reddit. I don't know anything about it, but I suppose would be willing to learn. ETA...

Re: Let's Make 2022 Predictions!

Speak for yourself, I’m not panicking about COVID, truly the worst thing facing our country and world is global warming, and either we face it and manage it, or we die. Is it too late - possibly, probably, but I also believe in ingenuity, technology, and innovation. Agree with BigRR about COVID beco...

Re: Wishing us all a happy, healthy, safe new year.

Hope remained in the bottom of the box for a reason, and hope drives us forward — as Hesiod wrote: For ere this the tribes of men lived on earth remote and free from ills and hard toil and heavy sicknesses which bring the Fates upon men; for in misery men grow old quickly. But the woman took off the...

Wishing us all a happy, healthy, safe new year.

Here’s to 2022 with Amanda Gorman’s poem “New Day's Lyric" May this be the day We come together. Mourning, we come to mend, Withered, we come to weather, Torn, we come to tend, Battered, we come to better. Tethered by this year of yearning, We are learning That though we weren’t ready for this, We h...

Funerals sill include a tribal feast--but it is catered. snailgate I've never been to a funeral dinner that was catered, but I've never been to a big city funeral. Meals by friends or church ladies is probably a small town thing. Speaking of obituary casseroles, I can't remember being at a funeral ...

So? So why waste your one-a-day sneering* at BSG's suggestion that if Gob takes a break from starting interesting (?) threads, it would be useful for others to kick-start some topics. Yes Guin, but dogs are such needful creatures. You can't leave out an extra day's kibble and come back after a long weekend and expect to find your home intact.
Precisely why I have not given in to the temptation. I prefer to be able to travel.
