A riff on Rumsfeld:
“As we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say, we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns. The ones we don’t know we don’t know.”

The main reason there are not enough workers is the labor force participation rate is low at 62%. It was in the 66-68% range traditionally but then dropped to 62-63% following the Great Recession, before slowly climbing back toward 64% when COVID hit, knocking it back to 60%. It is once again slowly...

PS. sorry Long Run, but I still carry the fadish-for-a-short-time little box with my own steel drinking straw. That's a good idea,SG, thanks. We have plenty of steel and glass ones that are never used (since we almost never use straws at home), so keeping a few in the car for that occasion makes se...

When a doctor keeps patients waiting for 1.5 hours past their appointment time, it should be a signal that they should be scheduling fewer appointments over the day in order to keep up. That is unfortunate. This was a common situation when I was younger, but I have not experienced unreasonable wait...

May just be talking to myself, but the ending movie was a very good wrap. The take out song was an excellent choice (and a good listen all by itself):

Nice memory, Joe. Yes, this would be during the first "poo do, pee don't" advisory. Meanwhile, LA people had green lawns and were taking 10 minute rinse-offs at the beach . . . with water pumped in from Northern California.

We are following the request to use less electricity, especially AC, so that the Nor-Cal grid can direct more your way, and with 25 degrees of separation happy to do so. Also, we are seeing one of the limitations of all-electric cars as such car owners are being directed to not "fill up" during peak...

And this arrives at the 25th anniversary of Princess Di's death. The only reason I knew of that is I made the mistake of having NPR on the car radio and they were hyping a story about her' death being the first mega story of its sort. However, I have never gotten the interest and even fascination pe...

The abomination of "like" is destroying my meals out. For some reason, I can hear nothing of any nearby conversation except for that one word, over and over and over. I'm going to have a shirt made with a slogan - Stop Using 'Like, You Moron.
