Because we should have some right to control how and where our images are are utilized.

I have no idea, actually, if the date is in my profile. I just figured you'd intuit it, as my birthday is a *the* holiday of the year.

Re: Anyone in the path of Earl?

Well it was indeed a non-event here, thank goodness, as the predictions even Thursday night were for a major storm event with 100 MPH winds and serious flooding. Even Nantucket didn't get the lashing predicted -- but that is the thing with tropical storms and why you still have to be prepared. They ...

Re: It's ALIVE!

50s make you feel old? Guin had a birthday a couple weeks ago and she's not even within sight of 50 yet. (Is she the baby of the board? Anyone here under 40? Anyone over 70? Are we all just a bunch of [soon-to-be] middle aged cranks?) Thank the lord I'm not. But I'm also no baby, baby  And...

Re: Anyone in the path of Earl?

That would be me -- eastern massachusetts, south coast, 50 feet from the ocean, at sea level. As east as you can get without being on the Cape or Islands. And in the hurricane warning zone. But my hatches are all battened down, everything loose has been stowed or secured, I've got extra water, extra...

If you think blonde jokes are less common than before, its only because you're not a blonde!

Re: Men V's Women......

Listen, I know this was not meant to be provocative and was said in a joking way, but I do find it strange that the only people who can be routinely stereotyped and criticized are men (specially non minority men) and fat people. Well that's not true at all. Try being a blonde lawyer. (and the blond...

I know, I just couldn't get a camping spot or any place to stay at the North Rim, and I at least wanted to see it.

Next time, I'm rafting through it. That, I know, will be amazing!

Keld, as I learned, they are in your in box, or something like that. Go check your PM box, and there is something for "saved posts."

But I also hate that damn button. Can we make it smaller or something?

Re: Men V's Women......

Gotta love the stereotyping here. Next, why don't black people ski or ice skate? Or, why do Asian people drive so badly? Or, why are jews so cheap? (1) I specifically said "in my experience" and limited my comments to that particular experience. One which I seem to have to manage every winter . . ....

Re: Men V's Women......

This is true, men don't have to be ill for 9 months while carrying around another human being, who's going to split their pelvis bone and change their body permanently. Not to mention 30+ years of monthly bleeding and cramps, hormonal changes, bloating, puffiness, headaches, etc. They could ...

Niagara Falls, Ontario. Not the Falls themselves, mind you, which are spectacular. But all of the tacky stuff around the Clifton Hill area established to take advantage of the tourist traffic. Haunted houses, wax museums, Ripley's Believe It or Not, and the like, more neon per mile probably than ev...

You better control your swearing around them a lot earlier than that -- wait until you hear your little one repeating back to you your favorite curse words. It's funny, for about 30 seconds, and then you realize you really have to edit everything you say around them. A dear friend of mine is from Br...

Re: Sticky board suggestions page!

I appreciate that Andrew and @W have taken their dispute off the board, and prefer it stay there. I agree with Andrew that PMs are personal and confidential, and shouldn't be shared with the members. If there is an issue or concern, talk to one of the Admins and resolve it that way. Tossing this stu...

Re: eReaders...

I've used a free Kindle app on my blackberry to read a bit. But I get most of my books via the library, as I have no room for new ones. I only buy the ones I adore, and I'd buy them in hardcopy anyway. Until ereaders can deal with the borrowing piece, I won't buy one. (I did read that the Nook has s...

Miles, as I posted elsewhere -- call your state attorney general, there may be a fraud hotline. If these folks actually know you're a diabetic, that is not information they should have access too. if they are just fishing, they also need to be stopped.
