Re: What's it worth?
Refreshingly this doesn't seem to be a simple case of "deep pockets". The three entities seem to have genuine liability. Seriously, the crime is horrific. The women will never have a day in which they don't shiver at the thought of strangers observing their most private moments. The long-term effect...

Other good Welsh things
Rarebit
Mary Hopkin
er.....
The Scots have their whisky, the Welsh have their speech
And their poets are paid about ten pence a week
Provided no hard words on England they speak
Oh Christ! What a price for devotion!

Re: In the beginning ...
Andrew I was guilty of sloppy language. The hypothetical is not the “infinite set of moments” but the “infinite set of all moments” – whether past or future. That should have been understood since I was not identifying “past” moments but an actual infinity which includes all actual past and all actu...

Not for me it wouldn't. Good luck to the young man.
I'm sorry that you and I have fallen out (again).
Cheers

[quote="SeanLet's be straight here Meade, I didn't deny boxing or any other sport to females. You brought boxing into this discussion and I simply pointed out that I thought it was an unfair comparison. I did not offer any opinion on boxing. The words "They might get hurt" are NOT mine. I have now e...

Re: Wrestling with his faith
It was insensitive and intemperate of me to use the term “unparental” in connection with Big RR and Gob. I do apologise for that. I should more accurately have said: “IMO good parents would not permit a girl to wrestle boys” which is what was meant. Having had my views as well as those of the young ...

Big RR; thanks but I'm familiar with stuff like that in the OT. Please not that rubato's subject was the Inquisition, Roman Catholics and that Muslims got the idea from Roman Catholics. rubato said "the way that the inquisition worked was that they would say "look, either convert or leave and we'll ...

Re: Wrestling with his faith
And why should I not compare a girl's desire to compete in boxing to wrestling? If you want to argue on principle and criticize where I set the bar, why should you be permitted to set a bar yourself? Just depends on whose ox is getting gored (or pinned) I guess. And the boy involved should be entitl...

Re: In the beginning ...
Thanks Andrew. It appears crackpot has identified a real problem; that the paradox of infinity is at the moment eluding your fine analysis. A recap. I do not believe that an actual infinity of moments can exist. Therefore, you and I agree that “not all possible things” have happened and that they in...

Re: Wrestling with his faith
You think it is not inappropriate for men to wrestle women (ha ha etc) and I think it is. I would not have allowed my daughter to do so; I would think less of my grand-daughter if she did so. I would not have allowed my son to do so; I would think less of my grand-son if he does so. The young man sa...

In Aus we've had the floods, and the typhoons, in New Zealand they've coped the mine explosion and now the earthquake. The best people to assist in these natural disasters are our service men and women. So why are they out in Afghanistan fighting and being killed in a pointless "war"? Pisses me rig...

Re: Wrestling with his faith
My goodness Big RR and Gob, you are both far beyond "well it isn't written in the Bible so......" are you not? I certainly am. If you do not understand that men beating up on women is unmanly, ungentlemanly and not in accordance with the spirit of Christ, then so be it. If you do not understand that...

Sadly for theory, the Qur'an was received by Mohammed (peace be upon him) in the 7th century. The Inquisition was 15th century. Nasty people those Spanish. Particularly the comfy chair.

Re: Wrestling with his faith
I suppose that it’s correct to say that most of the people on this board are, in the main, supportive of a somewhat relativistic viewpoint. People are entitled to their own beliefs – I may not agree with them but I respect their right to have them. One may disagree with a person’s Buddhist notions b...

Re: In the beginning ...
Here's the problem (again): If a thing does not happen given infinite time in which to happen, then it is an impossible thing That is a leap, not a logical progression. "Impossible" means that it cannot happen. But you keep substituting "does not" for "cannot". How do you justify that leap? Well An...

Re: In the beginning ...
I have already provided the argument which you merely contradict. An impossible thing is that which can never happen A possible thing is that which can happen A possible thing can only happen in time and there is no time greater than "infinite time" If a thing does not happen given infinite time in ...

Ha ha. Ho Ho. A lot of funny stuff there. But the boy did the correct thing. He is to be commended for upholding a principle. (Look it up) Females have no business wrestling males. In a wrestling contest. Any more than female "boxers" should be allowed into the ring with male boxers. I don't agree w...
