Re: And the award for the best shade throwing goes to...

I've heard it both ways, from he is the greatest golfer who ever existed to he is, at best, a poor golfer; my guess is it lies somewhere in between. However, I doubt Trump could devote himself enough to become even a good or fair golfer (I doubt he even plays bogey golf, although he plays enough tha...

Re: Home for Random Thoughts

That does seem a bit ridiculous; I always thought the point of roundabouts/circles was to avoid the use of traffic lights/signs.

Re: Home for Random Thoughts

My pleasure.

and to be fair, there are more forts named for confederate generals (at least until recently) than Sickles. That should tell you something.

Of course, Sickles can be the inspiration behind Legos.

Re: Home for Random Thoughts

Now, now Meade, he's only saying what Sickles said time and time again. Not only that, but he brought his troops to where they could eat peaches between attacks. What a guy; a legend in his own mind.

Re: A Unique Version of Penny Lane....

Interesting BSG; those dance routines are the reason I quite the Madrigals in my HS; I loved concerts, did many solos, but couldn't stand dancing for the sake of dancing (I did do some musical theater in HS and college and it didn't bother me, but just dancing to a song I was singing was something d...

Re: There will be a bloodbath if Trump loses in November

Interesting; as I recall, Onward Christian Soldiers was not sung in churches I was part of since the early 60s (not sure if it was still in the hymnal) and I never recall singing Battle Hymn (although it might have been presented in some choir concerts I was part of--I'm not sure). However, I do rec...

Re: There will be a bloodbath if Trump loses in November

the Christian soldiers are marching against the foe Satan and it's not a call for war against humanity Perhaps, but I'm sure that's what the moslems would say as well--they are fighting satan and his minions, not humanity. As for the Salvation Army, I am commenting more on the name than what it doe...

Re: There will be a bloodbath if Trump loses in November

Coding the reference to violence might help, however. And religion (especially christianity) somehow always gets a pass. I doubt you could walk around singing Onward Moslem Soldiers, or have Jewish Deliverance [instead of Salvation] Army without some trouble. FWIW, a number of years back I recall a ...

Re: There will be a bloodbath if Trump loses in November

I would be more concerned about a "christian nationalist" uprising than a Trump-inspired one. Sure, Trump has his supporters (and even rabid ones), but the best way to stir people to action is to use religion as an excuse for (or even more a call for) the excesses--it's been that way throughout hist...

Re: Fani Willis can continue

BP--for an alternative perspective, I still maintain that no one (or very few persons) in government want these Trump cases to go to trial and verdict as they realize they can face the same thing for their peccadilloes (and few policians don't have those skeletons in their closets). After reading th...

Andy--I think it's more about appearances; just as a boss should not have a "romantic relationship" with a direct report, DA should not have a relationship with someone who (s)he supervises, approves payments for, approves expenses for... Even if there is nothing inappropriate, it still should not b...

Give you a hint; it's not the SOTU.
I think he'll take back his crown soon enough. Just give him time, it'll happen.
Give him time--he won't disappoint.

Re: Watching SOTU

That's pretty funny; a friend of mine had a last name which sounded quite similar to a polite (more or less) euphemism for intercourse of the sexual kind; he gave each of his kids the middle name of the town where they were conceived, so it would be something like William Vail Screw--he said they'd ...

Re: The Oscars

He looked a bit out of it to me when he came onstage--but then he always looks like that; part of the image he is trying to project I guess (Nicholson did it better IMHO). It wouldn't have surprised me if he just ignored (or missed) the teleprompter as it made little sense to read the winner without...
