Re: Retirement planning . . . finally . . . and worrying!

I've been putting the max in 401K for many years now and also putting about $1000 every 2 weeks in the bank. Also took the $100K pension settlement from my previous job rather than let it ride and get a payout each month when(if?) I do retire. Pay yourself first, be it into an IRA (traditional rath...

Re: Retirement planning . . . finally . . . and worrying!

Besides, I enjoy what I do, and I work for the greatest boss in the world, so why would I want to quit? Opens another can of worms that. I enjoy what i do greatly, would I do it if I could afford not to? I don't think I would. I love my job. I love my work. I love the people I work with. I love tha...

Rubato-we do so, and the only requirement is that the employer provide protective devices to help protect the employees. P3 and P4 laboratories, for example, contain environments which are known to be harmful and workers take the appropriate precautions and use protective equipment. You're being po...

I love a good cider, but I've found I prefer apple, and very straightforward. I'll take a Woodchuck Amber, from my lovely Green Mountains, please. Nothing else compears. . .

I'm trying to remember the last time I was in a bar where the bartender wasn't a smoker.... I'll get back to you when I can recall when it was.... I was out last night. The bar was busier than the restaurant, people were eating on that side - something you just couldn't stomach in the old smoky day...

But it's my money, and they are using their virtual monopoly powers in a political manner. The card you possess, the network to transmit the funds, and everything else associated with the credit card companies are their own property - they can take that card back any time they want to, and they con...

If the classified information had been given directly to the New York Times and it then published the information, the Times would be in the same situation as Assange*. But here, Assange is the only one who was given the stolen information. He could have notified the authorities and destroyed it. I...

And exactly what "more rights" do they have; it would seem that non smokers can make a choice not to smoke while smokers can make the choice to smoke. Yes, the nonsmokers may have to smell the smoke of the smokers, but then smokers may have to smell the perfume or BO of the nonsmokers; it's just th...

What [/u] is the "long standing and well understood law"? That if you park without the required permit you can be cited three times? Ten times? A hundred times? A thousand times? What? The bottom line remains that if you park your car once where you are not allowed to park it, then you have committ...

Re: It was 30 years ago today...

Pretty clearly, a disservice. Although I like both the treacle* and the more avant garde asthetic, I would have loved to hear what kind of songwriter Lennon developed into as he aged, and the world changed. * That's 60's-era Beatles treacle only, not any of Paul's post-Beatles stuff. And really, I d...

Cal Ripken, Jr. at the movies (pretty sure it was a Bond flick). Hillary (and just around the table from Ruth Bader Ginsburg) at an awards lunch where my firm was honored for its pro bono work including the reading program I ran (and HRC had previously come to our school and read with us).

Nope, that info is viewable to anyone whether logged in or not. Go to the "people" tab which shows a list of registered members (as boxes with avatar). Look to the right and see a tab called "extended view." Click on that tab. You will see the info I noted above. No clicking on any profile required.

They're now automatically set to private oldr. FWIW, I just registered over there and noticed that while profiles are set to private, if you click on "extended view" your headline, 20 character statement, age, and location becomes visible. So if there is info there you don't want to share, best to ...
