Re: A Thread For Posts About The Confederate Battle Flag...

FWIW, when you get the little "Constitution" pamphlet from the U.S. Government Printing Office, it also includes the full text of the Declaration of Independence. The two must be read jointly in order to understand the form of Government that the Framers had in mind. Consider: The First Amendment do...

Re: Not just weed

When I was growing up, far more than half of the U.S. adult population smoked habitually. "Clearly, most smokers do not develop schizophrenia... Indeed. With the enormous social stigma that have recently attached to cigarette smokers, it is not surprising that NOW it can be statistically correlated ...

Arya remains pre-pubescent in both the books and film, although the actress is now 18 or so. I think she was 9-10 in the opening scene of the series, when she was taking fencing lessons. This leads me to believe that the total time frame is less than 2 years. but that's just my guess.

I didn't think Buddhists recognized "deities." When I first saw this article, I was trying to find out what the reference was in the "Stop Lying!" signs. What was he lying about? I still haven't figured it out. I guess over there, as in the U.S., if someone says something that a listener doesn't lik...

Re: Game Of Thrones...

How much time passes as this story plays out? From the time when, say, Eddard Stark gets the summons to go to King's Landing to be King Robert's Hand until Dani encounters the Dothraki horde. Six months? A couple years? One difficulty is the disconnectedness of the stories on the two sides of the oc...

Re: trump is serious!!!!!

As the great moral philosopher Ann Coulter has asked: "Should American immigration policy be used to benefit American citizens, or the residents of third-world shit-holes who want to come here?"

The answer is obvious to anyone not wearing blinders.

Re: trump is serious!!!!!

This brouhaha about Trump's original statement is just one more demonstration of the comical political correctness of the MSM. Here is the quote in question: " They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing cri...

Re: Will There Be Another Last Minute Reprieve For Greece?

I may be wrong, but I think the Greek voters were delusional. The choices were not (a) accept the deal with its financial mandates, or (b) go back and negotiate a better deal. There is no better deal (for Greece) in the offing. I think the EU has had about enough with Greece's attitude & half-assed ...

Re: Global Warming - a Summary

There is no substitute for base-load power generation. Regardless of where you live, the sun only shines during the day, and the wind doesn't always blow. Excluding hydro - which is basically already tapped out - "renewable," non-combustion power will never be more than a small fraction of what the ...

Re: Amish education

In my own experience, the local Amish have clever and sometimes humorous ways of getting around their restrictions on the use of technology. One guy rents a sawmill from a neighboring farmer so that he can make and sell lumber. It is not unusual for them to borrow cell phones for a couple hours a da...

The delusional perspective of the Progs in this forum is nowhere more evident than it is on this thread. The political Left is apparently lined up behind Hillary Clinton, who even the most blinded partisan must admit is a damaged, compromised, unattractive candidate, with "political" skills so absen...

I'm not sure how much Amish culture differs from one culture to another, but my wife went to college with an Amish girl who was being sent there (now called, "California University of Pennsylvania") so that she could teach in the Amish community. She got a degree in Education, including the mandator...

20+% of the PR workforce works for government. Add government retirees and others on the dole, and a HUGE percentage of the PR population is sucking at the government's capacious teats.

As PR goes, so goes the U.S.

No surprises.

Fuck you all very much. Since I do NOT personally know much about lesbian relationships (and no one who is not actually IN one does) I sourced people who do research on the subject of lesbian sexuality, rather than the more scientific, "I know a lesbian couple..." Funny, I haven't noticed anyone ref...

The builder of this "castle" and I share a common belief: It's easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission. But sometimes it doesn't work out well. Many years ago I was pouring a driveway (for which I had a permit), and there were a few yards of extra concrete on the truck, so we quickly ...

I don't know what it's like now, but my experiences on the superhighways of Europe has been uniformly good. Yes the country changed - but not much. The Constitution has yet again been diminished to the level of nothing more than a list of suggestions, able to be manipulated or supplemented at the will of five un-elected lawyers, leaving very little recourse for any democratic correction. There is nothing ...

One of the great things about humanity is that different people are passionate about different "good" things. I know people who volunteer many hours a week at the local Animal Rescue League, but couldn't care less about the homeless guy holding out a tin cup for donations. My wife never passes a beg...

"Over the past 30 years, much has been said and written about 'lesbian bed death,' or the idea that long-term romantic relationships between women tend to be characterized by rather inactive sex lives.
