A baked potato or creamed spinach from the Chicago chain is $10 or $12 respectively;

$30 - $40 for a good steak dinner is not out of line and comparable to a good steak house near me.

Alfred's is not cheap, but as the review points out compared to other places of comparable quality you get good value for your money.

The older I'm getting, and the more comfortable our financial position, the more we are enjoying going out for good food. I think the "hit or miss" aspect of dining somewhere you have not eaten before adds to the pleasure, though getting a good experience is obviously far better than not.

Obviously my persnickety eating habits can put restrictions on things at times, but most places now will cater to vegos.

So far, no one has beaten the charitable restaurant "15 Cornwall" for the experience .

Though Hen and Hatch will be eating at the "Fat Duck" when we are next in the UK.
