Is the CSB down; I tried it enter and couldn't?
I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

Yes, but it would be nice if he informed people of when it actually was happening instead of relying on an announcement that was made many months ago.

Information is important in the Internet, especially accurate and up to date information.

If it wasn't required, then no questions would have been raised.

I take it G's fingers are also broken and that is why he doesn't bother updating his membership any longer.
Bah!

It is sad; we will never hear from Andy again. He is as liberal as a person can get, but he is as decent a man as one could ever expect to meet. One can‘t help but love the guy. I wonder how life is treating him? Has his teenager problem resolved its self? Lord I hope things have worked out for him.

Well, there was this thread ...where he posted an update two weeks ago, while no one showed much interest in Town Meetings. :shrug

Then it was just as well that Steve started his thread about it on the new CSB to let the G know it wasn't working. Nice it is back up now. I was thinking both the DAF and the CSB were disappearing.

Gosh, there were some people thinking that the G actually HAD meant to take the CSB off-line. It is just as well, others were concerned over the lack of information from the G on the matter.

:)

Alas, poor Andy.... I knew him (when) :D

Gob kindly informed me of your very flattering words, and after digging a bit for the address and password in my records, I felt compelled to thank you for them. I hope to be really worthy of them one day, although I have a long way to go... as do we all, I s'pose.

I am doing well - the twins are grown and off on their own, so we're empty nesters now. Both my sons are married off and between the two of us we have seven grandchildren now. They are all wonderful; our only regret is that they are scattered so far from us around this vast country.

I have been blessed with great success at work the past couple of years, as our agency goes about the work of reconstructing some of the debris from the greed and fraud that have marked real estate and lending for more than a decade. I'm proud to say that we're doing a great deal of fine work - rescuing some homeowners who deserve help, redeveloping the abandoned and destroyed properties the slumlords have left the banks to inherit, and developing a new tool to fight the decay that has become a prime resource for communities attempting to make the banks and investors take responsibility for their past actions. I'm a frequent speaker at workshops and trainings for other communities, and provide technical assistance to a dozen other cities. Right now I'm in the middle of building a $20 million project to provide assisted living to very low income elders - the first of its kind in New England. Rehabilitating a 100 year old mill building is an enormous and very fun project!

I also got to move from (volunteer) Treasurer to (volunteer) President of the local group fighting homelessness among families, which has tripled its staff and programs over the past three years, while reducing homelessness and saving the state hundreds of thousands of dollars. While some agencies and non-profits have failed during this difficult time, those who are most efficient and effective have actually thrived. I'm a pretty lucky guy to be involved with two that fall into that category.

Come to think of it, I'm pretty blessed in every way a human being could want - good health, a loving family, and meaningful and rewarding work. I'm sorry I haven't had time to interact more with all of you fine people, but there are only so many hours in the day, and although I've got most of my colleagues fooled into thinking I'm still in my early forties, I'm actually closer to sixty than fifty now. I feel badly that it took such an embarrassingly kind post to get me to find the time to respond.

How are you all doing? I keep up with many of you on Facebook, but there are many others from whom I haven't heard in ages. I'll try my best to check in later this weekend and see if any old CSB / CD friends have any news I should know!

Thank you all for being friends and discussion-mates these many years....

Andy

Thanks for updating us Andy, it's no secret that you have friends, on all sides of the political spectrum, here.

Ps. If you replied to my mail, I'll apologise that i haven't read it, as I'm now at work.

I miss you more than anyone who ever left this tangled web we wove when we was all writing what we wrote way back when.

Maybe that's because more than anything you were a wascally writer who was not wanton to wage war with others but instead wanted well written writings.

Wishing you well....

Hey AndyH! Pardon, I don't do Facebook, as it's evil, and I'm too lo-tek to know the exorcisms it takes to keep the imps and demons from jumping off its pages.

...but, I'm very glad to hear you and your family and friends are doing well. Hope it all continues to be so, so thX and best wishes.

Loca

Andy

It is great to hear from you Andy and I take nothing back. You are an outstanding in both ability, personality and in my opinion character. You are too hard on yourself . Benjamin Franklin once said,” If men were angles there would be no need for law, however; men are not angels. We all are flawed to verging degrees. Some of us have had problems with additive chemical, thank god I am not one, and some of us have had problems with homicidal rage and have been in love with women other than our wives. What every your flaw is I am sure it is mild by comparison. There are some around that actually enjoy hurting other people. That is not you Andy; the way you treat people is superior. If I remember correctly you left the CSB because you did not enjoy the animosity between yourself and another poster. So Andy I take nothing back you are one of the best people I have ever known.

I am happy that your teenagers turn out ok. My grand daughter did too, but I had to send her home to her defective father out of fear that I might kill her. The way she talked to me made me dangerous. If it had not been for the fact that I loved her I would not have cared what she said. It is a long story.
And she is doing ok now mostly due to her exceptional intelligence. She understands that the way her father did things did not work out well and is determined not to follow his example. Once we where separated and she calmed down and our relationship improved.
I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

Why Tim, as long as you are not a bully or thug you have nothing to fear from me. I respect people's right to be different and you are different but that‘s ok. :)

As I said we are all flawed, but it not our flaws that define us it is what do about them that really matters.
