I'll tell you something else I noticed over at the new CSB....

When I look at the membership list, it sure looks like there are a fair number of sock puppets....

Though perhaps they aren't strictly speaking "sock puppets"...they may be accounts Gar created to test various things....

(or perhaps to make it appear there are more members than there actually are.... ;) )

ETA:

BTW, has anybody figured out how to tell how many total posts have been made? I believe so far there have been 12 threads started, but I can't find a stats section that will tell me how many total posts have been made.

I just swung by there, and that's my impression...

When I checked, he had 28 posts...(Steve was in second place with 26...I get the impression Steve has moved over there pretty much full time; it gives him the chance to pretend he's a genius without anyone giving him a reality check....)

I'm a little puzzled by Gar's posting, since I was under the impression from what he had said that he was going to retire the handle and not use it at all at Re-Boot....
Perhaps Steve is just trying to do what loCAtek suggested, and is supporting the new venture by posting there a lot. If so, good on him. :ok
I've looked in a couple of times, and while I wish Garaelb well in the venture, I haven't had the time to get involved there yet. And it's a 'Catch-22' because I when look in quickly, it appears not much is happening, but I haven't the time or thinkpower to help by starting threads and 'making' things happen.

My assumption is that Garaelb would be posting quite a bit at the moment while it's all being set up - it's still in 'test' mode and therefore still being developed and tweaked. I'm assuming he'll retire the handle, or decrease posting, or similar, when the 'proper' version of the reboot is up and running.
BTW, has anybody figured out how to tell how many total posts have been made? I believe so far there have been 12 threads started, but I can't find a stats section that will tell me how many total posts have been made.
Because it's the test mode version, Garaelb has been asking for feedback on any and everything. I'm still struggling to find my way around the place, but if you can't find the stats, perhaps you could suggest it? But please don't let him add the stats on that front page (at least without getting rid of something else) - it's 'busy' enough already!!!!! :)
Life is like photography. You use the negative to develop.

I have to say I found this amusing...(or depressing, depending on your point of view...)

Aside from discussions about the CSB Reboot itself, the largest number of threads that have been created are in the "Political" section....

There are five of them...

They can be found here:

http://cybersoapbox.net/forum/?action=g ... -Box-0.htm

Number 1:

So how's that Jobless Recovery workin' out?

In this one, Steve is the only one to post with a chart he posted a couple of months ago at the CSB.

Number 2:

the stench of economic decay

In this thread, there are 3 posts; two by Steve, one by editec.....

Number 3:

Us or Them?

Six posts; four by Steve, two by editec...

Number 4:

Tom Delay convicted of money laundering

Now this one sort of stands out; it's a repeat of a thread started at the old CSB, but at least it includes posts from a couple of folks who aren't Steve or editec...

Number 5:

Wikileaks

Three copy and paste posts from Steve, trying to show Asswipeange to be some sort of hero....

Now then....

What can we learn from this?

8-)

Because it's the test mode version, Garaelb has been asking for feedback on any and everything.

He has my email address, and he has my phone number...

If he wants my input, he need but ask....

Concerning Reboot, this is a shake down cruise. This is where you get to test it out and to help discover things that need to be fixed. Some of you have already found many things that should and will be corrected. As you can see the site is quite a bit more complex than the CSB has been in the past. There is a great deal more functionality and many more features. With this comes the inevitable fact that there are going to be things that need to be worked out.

I ask for your paitence and understanding and your assistance as we build a better community.

Now who is being a conspiracy kook?

As Locatek pointed out, but some seem to have missed he did ask for our help and assistance, and yet the vast majority of us who post here and at the old CSB only seem to be able to tear him down and throw roadblocks in the way. I am so glad to be over here with a group of people that are so supportive of someone who has given us all a refuge and a place to express ourselves for so many years. Three cheers for us.

Besides, it’s not as though Gar cares about what we think. He doesn’t share anything with us about what is going on with the CSB. It is obvious that he is only concerned with his own self-serving interests. IMO he should have never come back. All that he has done is caused more problems than he has settled. So far as I feel about it at this point he can shove Reboot-up- his arse.

Gar is a real piece of work! How thick headed does a person have to be before they get the picture. My DOG, you would think the guy would get the picture by now that we simply don’t like him or the CSB. Like Scooter said once before how can we trust this guy anymore? He’s shady, and no doubt has a hidden agenda that is not in fitting how we all think the CSB should be run. He claims that we have free speech over there and then he tries to say that the membership has to be responsible for their own posts. What kind of happy horseshit is that? Come on now lets be real. Free Speech is free speech and that means I can say everything that pops into my mind and flies out of my mouth. That is what free speech is end of story!

You know I am just done with the CSB 100%. Gar is a fake and a fraud and doesn’t deserve the time of day to make that den of vipers and trolls any better than it is. It simply is not worth my time. Now as I look back over the years of time and effort I put into being a member over there I should probably kick myself in the a$$ for being such a fool as to ever think that Gar was anything other than self-interested, suck-up, no-balls kiss-ass, pundit and I hope he does remove my account from there and delete me from his contact lists as well.

And all that information we have to fill out over there. You know that he is going to make a list of all 50 or 60 of us and sell it to some coporation to be added on a spam mail list or something. Who is he trying to kid? The guy is only out to make a buck. You would think that with all the work that he has done to build the new CSB that he could at least get a freakin' space in the user names. It's not as though it is rocket science. The space bar is one every keyboard I have ever seen. How can it be so hard with everything else he has built. Big deal he has a real job and has to spend his free time doing this. He says that like it is some burden and that we should feel sorry for him because he has to work AND fix the CSB too. Well at least he is lucky enough to have a job unlike many of the rest of the country. Why should we help him do anything? What do we get out ot it? Maybe he should pay us to help him. We shouldn't help him. We are not going to get a single dime out of the CSB, and he is too cheap to pay real programmers to do his website for him.

I bet if all of us here put our minds together for six months, we could easily put together a site that would be so killer kick ass that it would make the CSB look like the pile of vomit that it is. RB knows how to write programs. I mean she has this place running like a top. :) We have the best of the CSB over here so why do we even care what happens to the CSB at all. Just let it go down the drain. It's evolution by example. Only the strong survive. So I say we all just stop going to the CSB at all and let Gar and Steve have their own little playground all to them selves. They like it that way.

CSB I spit on thee! Now gar, put that in your REBOOT pipe and smoke it.

Thanks for the heads up. I registered to protect my user name from misappropriation and didn't give the rest of the site a second glance, so same thing happened to me.
I just assumed like at any other website where I've joined that the personal information was for the site admin only, and I trusted Gar.
So would any website administrator with half a brain who wasn't crocked when he wrote the code. Gar COMPLETELY screwed the pooch on this one, and if there are any repercussions from the crazies based on having access to our personal info, Gar is going to answer for it.
Scooter wrote:That's what I thought. Not sure why he was asking for all that info anyway (but I figured I'd be a good sport because, like others said, I figured I could trust Gar), but having asked, the default should have been that all info was private, particularly since there is lag in actually knowing whether you are registered due to this inexplicable back and forth of emails that is supposed to happen.

I can't imagine what would have possessed him (unless he was drunk or on drugs) to think that it would be a good idea for it to even be possible that members' full names would be displayed publicly.

Oh my bad Scooter. This must be a different Scooter.

Don't get your hopes up. He never actually committed to respecting the result of a vote. He said the issue would be "revisited" and he said he wouldn't pay attention to any anonymous poll, but he never said that he would go along with the opinion of the majority.
Even though you don't actually say it is undeniable that you do question his trustworthiness. But hey I am on yourside here I agree with you that he can't be trusted and that he must be on drugs thinking that he could ever get someone to pay to be a member of that place.

Thanks for admitting you lied.

And thanks for identifying precisely who you are.

Too bad about not having the balls to let everyone else in on who you really are, though. But it goes so well with the rest of your character.

Dear, of dear, oh dear..

That's the trouble with morons, they do not have the ability to realise how stupid they are.

So you didn't make those posts? Is there another scooter on this board that made those posts? There must be a flaw in the board software that put your name on thsoe posts. Did some unauthorized person get on your computer and post under your account? Talk about character? You would be well served to asses your own character before calling into question someone else's.

Oh wait a moment you don't have to do that because your character is so beyond reproach that you are incappable of having your character questioned. Yours is the moral fiber that all should aspire to. All hail the divine Scooter.

Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
