You mean, like the fact that you report directly to Tim Geithner?

:loon :loon :loon

You have quite a long history of being unable to support your collection of quad-facts.

I just perused a thread at Re-Boot that Keld started to make some personal suggestions about the site....

http://cybersoapbox.net/forum/#topic/Ke ... stions.htm

I see Steve isn't wasting any time....

He's already set himself to the task of trying to stir up drama and drive people off of that site just as he did so successfully at the old CSB....

I guess he figures if he kicks people in the teeth as soon as they show up over there, he won't have the problem of having to try to drive off a whole bunch of people at one time....

Probably not a bad strategy from his point of view....

I thought when the new CSB was up and running, and order had been established, we would be retiring the Plan B, and moving wholesale over there.

At present I see no reason to think this will occur.

I never thought that.

Plan B is looking much better every day compared to the CSB.

Have yet to register at the reboot. Dropped by but I am not into all the graphics and stuff. From what I've been reading about it, I'll stay right here.

I would ask that whatever decision you (and this applies to everyone) make, you do so on the basis of what you see or read over there, rather than on what you read here, so as not to give rise to any accusations that Plan B-ites are out to sabotage whatever it is they are trying to create over there.

I thought Gandalf and Running on Empty were the same.

If that's the case he has passed on to his reward...

Keld,

Running on Empty (aka Maniac) was the genuine article. A man I was lucky to know, even as little as I did.

Gandalf, talented as he and his puppets were, was an entirely different individual.

I second that. Everyone should check it out for themselves. One person's reaction could be very different from anothers.

As I've said, I've done some posting over there; I'll probably do more. The graphics aren't my cup of tea but I really don't find them that off putting....

The functionality for the posting takes a little getting used to, (as does tracking what's going on) but I don't really have much of a problem with that either. My main functional complaint would be the niggardly editing time limit.

I will continue to take a wait and see attitude.

Though I will say, that at least up to this point, in my opinion, for the most part all that has really happened is that Steve has a fancier sand box to play in.
Plan B-ites are out to sabotage
In my view, the biggest problem Gar has on this point, (not any surprise to me) is Steve...

Paradoxically though, while his behavior remains the biggest single negative in terms of attracting more participants and thus the biggest problem, (beyond technical ones) Gar faces in making the site a success , Steve at the same time posts stuff that is obviously designed to suck up to Gar personally; belittling and sneering at any criticism of the site as petty, etc.

So, Steve still believes that he is the protector of 'Free Speech,' (his warped definition), and he will continue to suck up to Gar while attempting to make the rest of us appear to be co-conspirators who are trying to destroy Steve's cyber-playground.

The more things change, the more they seem to stay the same.

If Gar shut down the old site it may encourage people to go to the new one.

Well, it would move what little traffic there is on the old CSB to the new CSB, but it wouldn't increase the number of participants, since all but a handful left when Gwen tanked the old CSB last spring....

What's basically happening now, is that the little bit of posting that was left on the old CSB, has been split into two even smaller groups of posts.

I think shutting down the old CSB, while it would create a tiny bit of additional traffic would probably wind up being a net negative because I think it would create more interpersonal squabbling on Reboot....

Though Steve seems bound and determined to do everything he can to get that going on the new board anyway....

I have been discussing with myself a method of being able to bridge the CSB:MK5 into Reboot. So all this talk and fear mongering of CSB:MK5 'biting the dust' is just misplaced. If I can do this thing then I will. If I can't then I can't but it won't have been without trying. I don't want to see years of posts and conversations lost to oblivion either. So stop giving up the ghost and stay the course me heartys.

The CSB is coming back strong ....
and it's gunna be here to stay.... ah bob boop be diddy be bop.....

I've checked out Reboot and posted a few times. Until there is a feature to allow me to easily access new posts since my last visit, I won't be spending much time there - it's too time-consuming to track the thread development.

I haven't had as much time to post as in the past in recent months, what with my surgeries, work load and recent job change - not to mention my new role as partner and step-mommy. There are dozens upon dozens of threads here I've never had a chance to open.

I hope any decision to retire this place will be by consensus of the membership, who have offered to financially support its continued web-presence. Unless Reboot takes off in a very different way than the old CSB had been going in recent years, this is the place I want to be - largely friendly, lively debate and humor, sans psycho-drama and monotonous gloom/doom drumbeat.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

I registered at the new CSB and have posted a few times. It is new and complicated and I just don't see myself getting all that comfortable there.

I certainly hope Plan B is not disbanded. I feel more at home here than I did for the past 6 months at the old CSB.
I expect to go straight to hell...........at least I won't have to spend time making new friends.

There are 2 CSBs now?

Why?

I'll look in at the new one but unless the membership is significantly different from the old one it seems not worth it. I delisted at the old one and don't much look at threads here about it because it had too little of value. Apparently unlike many here I have no interest in the constant whinging and cwying about posters I don't like.

I miss the 'last post read' feature.

I realise all new features will take time, but most of the time I can't work out which of Steve's gloom filled posts was the last gloom filled post I had read.
Bah!
