Tell me about it Dais...

I've had it with that place, life's too short.
Anyroad, just about all the people whose posts I'm interested in reading (with the exception of Gar) are here now.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

LordJim
I really believe (and hope) that you must have the wrong end of the stick on that one, oldr.....
I got it from this post by Garaelb in the Official Update on CSB:Reboot page 9.
We could always poll to see how many people would want a pre-registration. If the number is small enough I suppose it would not be overly difficult and if the number is high enough I suppose a handeling fee could be applied. I gotta pay these guys working for me with more than "Good jobs" and "Atta boys" :-)

lets try the poll and see how many people are going to be interested in some sort of pre-registration.
And then this post on page 10 (start at the top of page ten which leads into this post)
Well Steve at the risk of revealing my MOTU plan (I can say that without fear of the consequences afterall I AM THE MOTU )

Traditionally lazy people are more apt to spend $$$. I should know I am the laziest of them all!
After re-reading it sound as if there are few people who want to pre-register he will do it no problem, but if a lot of people want to pre-register it will take time and effort and he might charge for the privilege. At least that's the way I read it. If someone has a different explanation I'm all ears.

Well he need have no fear of that....

Since at this point, there aren't that many people expressing an interest in participating there at all....

Gee whiz, given the situation that he's going to be confronted with when he launches the new board:

A core membership dominated by a handful of depressing, obsessive, one-note conspiracy cranks, who spray themselves with a big can of "New Poster Repellent" (or the rival product, "Members-Be-Gone" ) every morning, he needs to do every thing humanly possible to encourage as many registrations as rapidly as they can be done...

He ought to be encouraging pre-registrations, and if that means he eats a little cost up front so be it...

The alternative is extremely penny-wise and pound foolish....

If by some miracle, he were to have 100 requests for pre-registration...he should be absolutely ecstatic and delighted to accommodate the requests....

That would mean he would have a large and lively forum to attract new people with right out of the box....

Which as it stands now, he's not going to have.

I don't know if you saw my suggestion (in whatever thread) LordJim but I said he should ban the whole lot of us for 6-12 months and start new. Otherwise the "same ol' same ol' " is going to start up right out of the Reboot.

I personally would be insulted if I were summarily banned, being lumpted together with those who,IMHO, are not worth my time to even respond to. I disagree with banning for any reason. The concept of what we here call Russing works better. In the earily days of the CSB there was a poster using the screen name "Russ". He became so nasty that everyone just ignored any posts by him. eventually he just disapeared. It is possible he returned under various names and quite possibly is still there with an entirely different persona. If so the exercise accomplished it's goal.

I am throughly convinced that feeding a troll only validates their behaviour. Starve them and they have no strength to disrupt or control.

Thats my two cents worth anyway. :D
I expect to go straight to hell...........at least I won't have to spend time making new friends.

Someone who is still registered over there, please tell Gar that Scooter is asking what drugs he is on, because they must be pretty good, and that the notion that anyone would pay for the "privilege" of registering at the CSB, particularly as the active membership is currently constituted, made me spit up my coffee. Rather, ask him how much HE is willing to pay US, to recreate a critical mass of sanity in that place to counterbalance the crazies that are left.

Otherwise, tell him to enjoy himself as the lunatics strengthen their hold on the asylum.

The concept of what we here call Russing works better. In the earily days of the CSB there was a poster using the screen name "Russ".
While I wasn’t there, I believe that was at the DAF.

The attempt to “Russ” someone at anytime within the CSB was doomed to failure because too many members couldn’t help themselves from responding.

After all, they had to set the record straight…

…again and again and…

Then again, maybe they enjoyed it. Like what is going on there now.
A sufficiently copious dose of bombast drenched in verbose writing is lethal to the truth.

As I said over there, the best way for Gar to make a success of this would be to ban ALL the current membership. :D :D :D

IMHO The troll trio's days are numbered, that's why ~Steve's pulling out every last available stop. He knows he's never going to get away with that behavior ever again, or else he'll be banned. So, what has he got to lose?

It confused me for a bit too Tyro. Actually, there were two posters with the handle Russ (or the same one twice... who knows...). The one at DAF was Angels Harrison's stalker and the one on the CSB got 'russed'.

Tyro, I do believe the russing was on the CSB in it's more restrained days. Mostly it origonated from his behavour at the DAF which he continued on the newly formed CSB.

When the CSB was first opened we were all thrilled to be in a place where Wendy was not able to dictate her own policy. Where we could interact with one another without fear of retribution from administration. Things there did not begin to disintagrate until about two years ago. Before that there was a slow dedregation that caused several members to leave. Some of which I do miss.

I hope that Plan B can mature into something that can grow. Somewhere that we can come and interact without all the drama and shit slinging that has become the norm at the CSB.

On the other hand I still have hope that the CSB can be salvaged. CAll it nistalga If you like but I am the optimist who has trouble giving up the ghost. Hell I still like listening to music from the 60's and reliving my memories through it. :ok

Okay, I've just been for a quick look and found Gar's post in the 'FAO Steve' thread.

If that's the kind of thread which would probably be taken down after reboot then the CSB really is fucked!
It was (as many have pointed out) a genuine attempt to allow Steve to apologise without losing too much face. If Gar can't see that from knowing me and reading my posts in that thread then there really is a problem.

I wonder how many genuine, non-hate threads like that I would need to create in order to get banned...

Steve is now offering to stop harassing me if I stop calling him a pedophile...

Only one problem with that...

Me too Miles but then again, how does one pick and choose? I know plenty of posters who do not warrant a ban but banning all would be a way for Gar to start fresh. Not the best solution but maybe the only solution.

I have been a registered member of the CSB even before the G-man knew what he was getting himself into.

I do not particularly want him to make this leap alone. I will be registered on his new Board in one way or another.

As for Steve?

He is beneath contempt.

He is a poor excuse for a human.

He is someone I am glad is not in my circle of friends.

I have never seen someone lie so blatantly when all evidence around them says the opposite.
Bah!

He is a jerk. Not really worth getting your blood pressure up over, but he should serve as a shining example of why one should never say never.... Oh and I see Garaelb has finally grown a pair and taken a stand. That raised my esteem of him from zero to a bit higher.

Strangely Steve hasn't posted AT ALL today, he's normally in there at the crack of dawn.

Maybe he's not got the balls to apologise and gone away himself?

I wonder if Gar would ban ALL his stinking socks too?
