A little while ago, editec posted something at the old CSB that beautifully illustrates the conundrum Gar faces:
Last day of 2010, last day of the Old CSB.

Our new chum chidufjd ought to be commended for his/her efforts in showing us how irrelevant this place has become.

Shut it DOWN, Gar.

And then, for the love of god, start moderating the CSB reboot as you said you would do.

It's not so slowly turning into the dumping ground for the PlanB vandals
.

There you have it.

Gar has a core of three people on his new site who believe that what he needs to do to have a really successful site is to drive out everyone who doesn't embrace an "All Crackpot Conspiracies, Class Warfare and Economic Apocalypse All The Time" format.

That's why I post here 90% of the time.

The old CSB is a shell and the new CSB will become one (if allowed to progress the way it has been).

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Edi's monstrous ego at work.

I've no desire to spend time on a site dominated by him, Gwen and Steve.

I saw that MajGenlMeade had posted over at CSB the other day; is anyone in touch with him off the boards? His appearances are so brief and sporadic that he may not be aware of the forum's (impending?) demise. I know he's busy, but I'd like to see him post here when he gets the chance; I'd rather not have to be trying to hunt down any of his postings on Reboot, as I find it very slow and difficult to navigate.

He's registered here.

Hopefully when the old CSB closes, he'll drop in here occasionally to update us on his adventures.

That's my impression also.

Me too. I noticed that it was apparently possible over there to embed a YouTube video in a post like it is here (Gar and Steve had both done so) so I asked how to do it. This was Gar's reply:
One way is to copy the embed code from youtube and then when you are about to post a reply here you click on the HTML control in the NASA Control Panel a new window will open up and then you simply paste the embed code at the bottom of the page > click on the update button and badda bing bada boom you have embedded your video. The other way is to copy the share code from the video type a name for it > highlight the name> and then click on the chain link (not the broken chain link) and paste the link.
:shrug Compare that to the single button we can click to do the same thing here at Plan B. He does seem determined to make every little thing more difficult than necessary...and more complicated than it is on most web discussion boards...and slower.

I'll probably keep checking in occasionally to see if things have improved, but so far it's not looking good.

One thing you have to realize is this is completely new forum software with original code. It's going to take quite a while to iron out the bugs.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Yeah, I do realize that--which is why I'm willing to keep checking in over there to see how things are going, even if I don't actually use the site much in the meantime. I figure if the Reboot site is harder to use than the old site (or this site), that's Garaelb's problem, not mine.

I'm somewhat unconvinced that it is "original code" if it were then why would the profiles have all that crap more relevant to a dating site? It looks to me like it's some type of generic CMS which is being tweaked to try and make it fit what Gar wants it to do - which is why its so clunky moreover most sites actually disable html for members (as we do here) as it's too damn easy to embed malicious codes.
If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you may have misjudged the situation.

Half the time when I login, I can't post a reply. I tried sending Gar a PM on the issues I'm having, but that wouldn't go through, either.

I'd like to participate at least to a limited degree, but every time I read and can't respond, I become less interested.

I'll maintain a healthy interest in seeing how things develop over there. I'll rely on this board to keep me 'posted' on that. :)

Are you sure you are definitely logged in?

I have had the same issue, but found out that I wasn't ACTUALLY logged in when I thought I was. Once I re-did that step, I had no problems.

It says I am, but any time I try to access 'post reply' or to compose a message, I get a 'done, but with errors on page' message in the bottom bar of my IE.

If anyone has any ideas, or would relay that information to Gar for me, I'd appreciate it.

Hey, I get that too if I try and post from work.

I wonder if it is a Board problem or a work issue now?

Could it be a Firefox vs. IExplorer vs. Safari etc. etc. sort of problem?

That could be true too kristina.

In fact I reckon it is probably the answer.

I use IE both places, so not sure. Added the new CSB to my 'no block' list, and am not getting the usual message for contact blocked by my organization - usually you can't access the website at all.

If anyone figures it out - if it's an IE settings issue - let me know!

Well, the difference is: you can link a video from other sources than YouTube, here you can't.
