Yes, you were kind enough not to mention that. Please don't do it again.Scooter wrote:Oh, did I neglect to mention that I got all of this and it didn't cost me a dime?
All the best and of course I hope it continues to go well.

My surgeon will probably be using video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) which, in contrast to full thoracotomy, requires only a 2-4 cm incision. Less time with chest tube, shorter hospital stay, much shorter total healing time.RayThom wrote:Yo Scoot, lobectomy via thoracotomy for stage 1 has a high rate of longer term survivability.

That's an interesting vid. Look how close to the heart the surgeon is working.
That's why the thoracotomy is the chosen method to excise a tumor in the left lung. You're in good hands. Just concentrate on the healing.

So far, so good.....

One of my customers had a lower lobe removed "the hard way" a few years ago. He's doing fine. I'm sure you will too. They sure do a lot of neat things with small scars these days.

May takeoffs equal safe landings. Sala hantle, Scooter.

All the best, Scooter!

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Got the word today, an adenocarcinoma, which was what I was expecting but still feeling a little bummed out. Seeing the surgeon on Monday and lobectomy is scheduled for January 30th

Certainly not good news, but not unexpected.Scooter wrote:Got the word today, an adenocarcinoma, which was what I was expecting...
I feel the course of treatment is the best way to go. It's not a horribly invasive procedure and you should recover quickly -- providing other past illness don't get in the way. Be sure to eat well -- body mass helps slow up progression. And positive thinking goes a long way, too.
I wish you well.

As to eating well, I probably said this before but it bears repeating - lots of plants and almost nothing processed, studies are showing that diet does effect cancer growth in profound ways.

Oh, Scooter, I'm so sorry to hear about your dx. Best wishes for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.
GAH!

Scooter, I'm sorry about the news, and sending you all the positive vibes and meditations I can send. Hope the surgery goes well.

Lobectomy done last week, in hospital a couple of nights and then home. Breathing close to normally but I haven't been able to do much walking around to see how well I can manage because it's been cold and/or snowing most days and I wanted to avoid breathing in those conditions so soon after. Provisional pathology report was negative for any indication of cancer in the removed tissues. Have a follow up with the surgeon on the 20th and then we'll see what I'll have to do in terms of ongoing monitoring. But for now, cancer free

Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: So it seems to be lung cancer....
Oh, did I forget to mention that, once again, I got all this done and it didn't cost me a dime.

So happy to hear everything is going well and you are keeping ahead of the nasty C! And very, very glad that unlike tens of millions of Americans, you don't have to stress out over medical costs and shitty insurance coverage while you are busy focusing on being well.
