My guess is as a result of this he'll have to give up rock climbing.

Not if he heals properly. He will however very likely suffer some ongoing pain in those spots that are so insulted by the accident. Rainy weather will serve as a reminder of that fateful moment and anti-inflammatory sales will go up. :ok

When I was in my early 20's I broke my finger. The finger's barometric predictions are quite amazing.

Gob's friends will think him psychic as he sagely remarks that he feels a change in the weather coming, a nor' easterner or whatever the reasonable facsimile is down under.

:D

Wierdest thing is my appetite has totally gone. Luckily Hen and SMF have been cooking up some real treats for us.

Yesterday I didn't eat a thing until Hen plated up dinner at 8.00 pm. Side effect of the meds?

Maybe, Gob. IIRC, when I was given morphine (back spasm that felt like kidney stones), I wasn't hungry for a couple of days. I just wanted to sleep all the time 'cause the dreams were so wonderfully strange!

Ha, I've been involved in "high risk" activities/sports since my early twenties, and have many photos to show it. I wonder if rubato would like to compare risk experiences?

A life without risk is a dull one (IMO).

Ever been skydiving Gob?
I might have asked you this in the past but forgot the answer

I did not say how he should decide only that it should be considered.

There are risks I do not take because I have obligations to people around me which would not be fulfilled if they were to go wrong. A sole person whose death or permanent injury will not effect anyone else can take risks for their own personal pleasure. But if you are part of a community of relatives and friends who would be hurt by your loss or obligated to care for you if you were disabled then the calculation about the effects of risk are different. But I believe that we are morally responsible for the forseeable effects of our choices even when there is uncertainty involved.

OH! You mean like Driving to work Every Fucking Day...

What a Putz. Too bad that you don't have the stones to actually enjoy your life.

Face it Rube, you are just a candy ass milquetoast cowering under the guise of responsibility. :fu

Tim, you must have been in a hurry when you typed your last post...

I see that you inadvertently left out a word:

Fixed it for you.

One of my responsibilities to my loved ones is to be a happy and fulfilled man. Being me, one of the way I fulfil myself is through outdoor sports and activities, most of which carry a certain amount of risk. That's just the way I am and always have been, they accept and recognise this. I claim no cachet for it, it's just something I have always enjoyed.

Some families prefer lap dogs, other hounds, we're all different.

Everything we do carries a certain level of risk, some more than others. MC riding has a pretty high risk factor especially here on Long Island where the really BIG SUV is king. But it's a risk I am willing to take. My wife doesn't like it but, witht he kids grown and the mortgage all but paid off (which is covered), life insurance up to date, I firgured after a 20 year lay-off from riding, it was time to get back on the iron horse.

Skydiving is great, if I had the oney, I owuld be there every weekend working on my solo freefalling certificate.

I have lived my life, perhaps selfishly, doing pretty much what I liked. I have enjoyed high risk entertainment some of which I think I am paying for now. However at some point in my future I expect I will be one of those individuals sitting in a rocking chair watching the world go by. If,or when, that happens I will have a smile on my face as I will be remembering all the fun I had rather than frowning thinking of all the things I wanted to do and didn't.
I expect to go straight to hell...........at least I won't have to spend time making new friends.
