I must add that the time spent by Gob sleeping was around seven and a half hours. So although he is waking earlier than had usually would have, he is settling down a lot earlier too.

The cast-strength Laphroig may have summat to do with that ...

As for Barnum, the next seven days are critical to his future prognosis. If he is unable to respond under the current medication regime, I estimate he will last potentially three months before he passes away, if he is lucky.

If he shows any distress in his circumstances, he will be euthanased.

Sounds like Tanacia, like clockwork, even on her days off!

And that is just about the time I'm getting home... Fuck I hate mornings! :ok

And btw, I'm very gratified to hear that Barnum Hung about and am thinking good thoughts for his recovery.

Where am I?

Preparing for my first work day in six weeks. What a shock to the system. The sooner I retire, the happier I will be.

I will be happy to call myself a wimp ... in the fullness of time.

Now onwards and downwards and off to work I go!

Only 11 years left to do this.

Awww I feel for ya, my lovely.

My first day back in work tomorrow after 10 days on Fuerteventura. I'm not looking forward to it, Monday is the early start and the one day a week where "business dress" is compulsory .... Hate Monday's a lot.

It was better than I anticipated.

It was a long hard slog to get through the matters that had hit the faecal fan over the weekend, but I got through them and I was able to only put in an eleven hour day to do it.

If I had to return to work anywhere, I am glad it is to where I actually work. For the first time in living history I was not up the night before vomiting at the thought of returning to work for the same cantankerous bastards as before.

I missed my cantankerous bastards, and they missed me too.

Ok, this is odd but quite nice. Hen, Hatch and I have a week down the coast planned, as a winter break, in April, (Hen and I also have a "dirty long weekend away" planned for May, but don't tell Hatch.)

I've just checked my leave allowance total to make sure I have enough days owing to cover the days away. Seeing as I just had a six week break, I was worried I may be a bit low, and have to use my flex days.

I found I have 321 hours of leave remaining.

To find out how many days leave; 321 / 7.2 = 44.58 days

To find out how many weeks leave 44.58 / 5 = 8.91 weeks oweing.

Looks like I can keep my flex days for when I really need time off.

Ah, not my fault!

I didn't use hardly any leave up last year, as we only had holidays booked when I was off work for 2 1/2 months following my bike smash, so that was taken as sick leave.

So the leave I didn't use got carried over into this year, plus I've started accumulating this year's leave now.

Also the time we took off over Xmas had loads of public holidays in it, so although I was off for six weeks, I think I only used three weeks leave plus some flex for that.

I get 15 days vacation leave, 12 days paid sick leave, and federal holidays - 10 days resulting in 3-day weekends.

That's a pretty decent leave package here in the States. Teachers have it best; many working people get zero paid leave.

We are very uncivilized in this regard.

Not sure how much I get, about seven weeks I think, plus up to 6 months paid sick leave, plus 13 public holidays, plus a day off for every two weeks I work as I am a shift worker, plus "long service leave" after working for 10 years, which I think goes up to about 6 months paid leave as maximum.

Don't you get the 17% loading on Rec leave too?

I get 3 weeks vacation, 5 personal days...I also get 5 sick days, but those I can cash in so I try not to use them. All in all, not bad.

There are 365 days per year and about 104 weekend days. This is 260 days.
So, starting from a base of 260 possible work days, (not including the 6 months paid sick leave):

Seven weeks vacation: 35 days

Public Holidays: 13 days

An extra day every two weeks: 26 days

Total: 74 days

So, of 260 possible work days, you get over 28% of them off with pay...(not including sick leave)

You probably won't want to hear about the five months long service leave I also have up my sleeve. But in case you are worried about how on earth we manage to travel back to the "old country" when we take a break, we got a LSL allowance after we have worked for ten years.

You get a three month allowance at the ten year mark and that increases by ten days a year. (The amount was so much because it took quite some time to travel by boat back to England.)

I used ALL my initial LSL leave when I had the Hatch. I took it at half pay, so that equated to 6 months off in addition to my materity leave allowance.

It is a nice amount to have in your back pocket for a rainy day.
