I don't know what this is referring to. What does 'cloaking the board' mean?

In any case I am happy to wait and see what garelb does to find out what he thinks.

She's talking about how the board was unviewable to anyone but registered members.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

'Cloaking' is a American colloquialism meaning 'to make hidden'; after the article of clothing, the cloak, which can cover one's face, and hide your identity. It probably became common usage as a verb when Star Trek The Original Series, referred to a Science Fiction technology that could make an object as large as a space vessel invisible to scanners, which was known as a 'Cloaking Device'. The "Cloaking Issue" was the reason I returned to the CSB.

I didn't think it was possible for the Board to expand if it wasn't available to read for non-registered viewers.

I am pleased the Board is to come back on-line, even if the weekend in question is in question.

: )
Bah!

The CSB is back in maintenance mode awaiting the reopening of the Board Mark 5.

Ah.

I had not noticed it. Doesn't seem like a good way to attract new people. Strange thing to do. Why did she do it?

Ok, that makes sense. I don't see anything reprehensible about that.

FWIW, Gwen no longer has any administration relationship with the board of any kind; even as an assistant admin...

I had a fairly long discussion on the phone with Gar last week, and I think he's got a lot of good ideas for the new board he's working on to replace the old CSB....An intelligent approach that will bring in a lot of new blood....

In the meantime he's promised to re-visit the editing time limit question, and I told him I would participate in that discussion.

As I said in a post much earlier in this thread, I think it would be great if we could have two viable, functioning forums that have as their guiding principle respect for the views of the membership.

Well now that makes all the difference in the world.

Indeed. That was my number one problem with the CSB... her sole admin and it's knock-on effects.

LJ, does this mean that the comittee is to be disbanded? ;)
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Would be nice, but I think this place will now wither on the vine, as it has served its purpose.

That would be a shame, as I've enjoyed the camaraderie here, but it may be inevitable.

It may also end up like E-P's place, where a small number of people go for a friendly chat.

We'll see.

I don't think so Strop. I think this place will survive on it's own merits.

I think you are being a bit hasty. If Steve continues his stupidity and Editec is still an asshole then I will not wish to post there.

I'm with you on that @W. Although without their buddy in charge to back them up and allow them to do whatever they like I think they'll quieten down a bit.

What I can see happening:

Steve carries on behaving like a twat. Gar admonishes him. Editec admonishes him. Steve leaves in a huff. The world keeps on spinning regardless. :)

I even wonder if Gwen will be back. The pain, the humiliation we put her through. Steve will stick like a booger to a toddlers index finger.
