I can't think of a better gift than this one from LJ:

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Happy birthday! (Sorry I'm late; I had to make a quick unexpected trip to South Dakota which kept me busy & away from the innernetz for a coupla days.)
Hope it was a good one! Stay warm!

Thanks for the well wishes, friends!

T-36 days until I'm done with government work and launch my own ship - 44 is going to be one of the best years of my life, because either my practice will flourish and I'll be as happy as all of the solo colleagues I've been encouraged by, or my practice will fail and I'll finally be free to sell T-shirts on the beach in Costa Rica!

At the moment, with all the hectic holiday and in-law family drama stuff looming over the next few days, I can't begin to tell you how appealing that sounds...I'll finally be free to sell T-shirts on the beach in Costa Rica!
I'm ready to buy my ticket and head down there tomorrow...

Re: HBD BSG
I have to say, while I miss my family members - those alive and those no longer - I am more often gladder than not that I live too far away to want to hassle with extensive holiday travel to be with them on Thanksgiving/Christmas.
For many years now I've happily joined other peoples' family/friend gatherings on the holidays, and been entirely stress-free because none of their family dysfunction pushed any of my buttons.
On that note, I highly recommend inviting a non-related friend to family holidays, if you know a single who would appreciate the invite. My friends who do all tell me that having me there prevents a lot of the drama and button-pushing than would otherwise occur. I'm happy to provide this essential service!

Happy Belated Birthday! I always miss these threads!
Personally, I don’t believe in bros before hoes, or hoes before bros. There needs to be a balance. A homie-hoe-stasis, if you will.
