Anybody else seeing this change?

Whenever I click on a link here at Plan B - even to open up a thread, it now opens in a new window. I've complained in the past that outside links don't open in new windows but this is not the fix I was hoping for. I now end up needing to close windows quite often.

It could just be happening to me but I've restarted my Browser and computer and it is still doing it.

Are you sure your browser settings have not changed? I can't remember now where it would be, but there's a tick box or something somewhere that controls how the browser defaults when clicking on a link.

The links here still open in the same tab for me, but the way I've always gotten around that is to right click and then select "open link in new tab"...

If that's too complicated for you Joe, then I am going to start believing that you're wes... :P

Everything is back to normal. Whatever it was disappeared.

I've never been able to open outside links in a new window without manually doing it with a right click. I complained about it here once a long time ago about the lack of that feature here but the response was 'poor little Joey... it must be difficult being you. Quit whining'.....

Because of that response I've refused to donate money to the Plan B Maintenance Fund in protest....:D

If you think that's odd, I'll raise you my Plan B quirk. I'll be typing something, and completely without warning, my keyboard will behave as if it were a French layout e.g. the quote and apostrophe key doesn't act that way anymore, to get a quote I have to shift the 2, to get apostrophe I have to shift the comma, the question mark is over the 6. I have no fucking idea where the @, < and > go. But it will only start acting that way when I am in Plan B, and sometimes it will carry into other apps, but never vice versa. It doesn't change the keyboard or language settings on my computer, so that doesn't fix it, it just has to revert back to English layout in its own time.

It was happening about 10 minutes ago and now it's fine.

Which was of course, the entirely appropriate response...

Sounds like it switches to an AVERTY keyboard (as opposed to a QWERTY type which is normal). Do the letters change also?

No, only punctuation and symbols. I recognize it as how a French keyboard would be laid out, because I have worked on them. It's just frustrating because without the keys being labelled as such, I don't where they all are.

It's doing it now, in fact.

Is French showing as a choice in the General tab of your computer's Text Services and Input Languages window?

If so, it looks as though if you were to hit the "Hot Keys" Left Alt+Shift you would switch back and forth from English to French. I don't know why you would but you could.

In that case all you would have to do is remove French from the input language list.

Although the reason is more likely that your computer is possessed by a French demon.

I can't remove French from my languages list because I type and edit French documents all the time and the spelling and syntax check would be blowing a gasket uselessly.

But how if the keyboard is showing US, is the keyboard typing as if it's French? And if I try changing to French and then back to US, it does nothing.

So these quirks are just random, or maybe an attack is imminent. Remain vigilant. ;)

Maybe you have a corrupt or outdated keyboard driver. Have you tried replacing or updating it?

No, Logitech auto-updates its drivers and software pretty regularly.

Perhaps because you're posting from Canada, the board interface is misinterpreting you as being some Frenchie posting from Quebec.... 8-)
