I have a funny feeling that our latest six members may not be the debating type... ;)

Thanks for that Daisy, I don't go loooking around to see who registered and when. If they participate, I will engage, if not, then I won't.

Seems like a "clean-up in ailse 5" is needed.

I'll get shot of them if no one disagrees.

yarikav2016 had been fucking with the board permissions, if any other admin knows anything about this, let us know eh?

I've got shot of the lot, and deleted their accounts, I've also backed up the board.

If anyone knows of any genuine posters amongst that lot, my apologies, let me know.

Damn hackers. They should all be dragged out back and beaten then shot.

The trick is not to trust any 'member' with numbers at the end of their handle.

There's another one!

dgs49!! ;)

I blame them over there for these SPAMmers joining here.

It MUST be their fault, cause it aint mine.

Looks like there are more where those came from.

Been through with my broom.

Some point I suppose I may delete/ban/destroy a genuine registration, apologies in advance.

Maybe you should point a spurious email address up for legitimate registrations to contact you in case you "boy clean" them out of existance?

You can borrow my ahhffs email if you like?

just a question what criteria is used to determine a "spammer" or a dummy registration?

Well CP, a "spammer" registration would be some nonsensical collection of randomly generated letters like:

"akjostvl"

A "dummy registration" on the other hand would look like this:

"Steve"

My point is alot of the deleted regs are not alltogether gobbledegook and could concieveably be people or a more advanced bot registration program. I was wondering if there was a way the admins could tell the difference.

Crackpot, I believe that the bots are provided access solely based upon their ability to identify themselves as such.

I do know that the forum software allows for an option to permit or deny access to bots (we allow) and that frequently I see one as a logged-in member.

I know that “[bot]” appears in the log-in name. The next time I see one, I will record the full user name and post it here.

I'm talking about the "members" that this thread was started about and have since been deregistered.

Hi C-P.

I've been getting shot of them. Usually the ones we have been getting have also had links in their profile to "Buy Medicines" or "Cheap Rolex" or such, some have had outright porn links.

If I make any mistakes, mea culpa. But so far they've not posted, and no one's come back to complain about being excluded.

I was just wondering if there was other criteria since I have seen legit posters with odd handles before.
