I'm not able to see embedded youtube videos, I know not why?

I've tried in chrome and firefox, same problem.

I've updated flash player, no luck.

Any advice?

Check your plugins like Flash or Java and dump all your cookies. You might want to run your anti-virus program to see if there's anything that looks hinky.

I don't know who else this is affecting, but Gob, MGMcAnick, and I all seem to be having this same problem; all the advice the know-it-alls here have given has already been taken at this point...what else is left to try?

BTW, it also happens in Microsoft Edge (the new browser that replaced Internet Exploder in Windows 10).


ETA: embedded YouTube videos on other websites seem to run fine for me.

Is your computer always turned on? If so, try restarting it.

Make sure your browser(s) are updated.

Uninstall Flash and reload it.

Is there something you can click on and choose 'open in new window'? Does that work?

No change. Maybe it's Windoze way of punishing us for not accepting Windoze 10.

I use Firefox/Windows 10 on my computer and Chrome on my Android phone, haven't had any problems with videos here. Just sayin ...

The worst part of this is that those here who are not affected by this problem have no idea what we are seeing.

To be clear: it's a VERTICAL black rectangle at the LEFT EDGE of where the video should be, the same HEIGHT the video should be,
but only about—> ———————— <—this wide. (NOT a horizontal rectangle the size and shape of the video screen.)

And I can still see embedded videos on other sites, so it's probably something to do with the combination of THIS board's software with the YouTube software.

Nope. I see it with Windows 10, no matter what browser I use.

Do you see any options if you right or left click on the black thingamajig?

I'm sure you're right about this BBS having something to do with it.

Until or unless someone here says, "I had this problem, and I made it go away, and this is how I did it," I'm going to keep track of what people say but I'm not going to keep trying random suggestions. If I want to, I can see any video anyone posts by hitting the "QUOTE" button, getting the string of characters that identifies the specific video from that, and then going to YouTube and viewing it there. If I want to go to the trouble, that is: sometimes I do, sometimes I don't...it often depends on whether there's an indication or a hint as to what the video contains. (I already know that I can skip watching any video wes posts.)

I don't watch the videos, mostly because they are blocked here at work and I am too busy to log in at home.
Many of the pictures are blocked too.
But on the bright side (I think) the words written seem to be fine.
