Back in Aus

Thanks to all who posted for your kind thoughts over the past weeks, it was very very much appreciated.

Last Wednesday was Mam's funeral and wake. On Thursday we interred her ashes with those of my father.

After that, I travelled back from Wales, via London, Dubai, Bangkok, and Sydney. I didn't realise I'd have to transit via Bangkok, let alone have two hours wait there, as well as the wait/change in Dubai and Sydney.

The fucking trip lasted the best part of 2 days, during which I got 3 hours kip.

I'm now back in Canberra, but, as you can imagine with all the upheaval and travel, somewhat under par.

As my GP certificate covers me to the 31st, I'm going to use all that time to catch up with myself, (and see "Bad Manners".)

Therefore I'm planning to be back in work on Tuesday 1/11/16.

The trip back was hell

Never mind, all done and dusted now.

So will that be November 1st or January 11? (either way wouldn't surprise me)

It's the Brit influence in how they write dates ... back-asswards.
He means November 1st.  1/11/16, as in January 11 2016, was almost 10 months ago.

Gob, I am so sorry to learn of your mother’s passing. My mother is near death, so I can imagine how you feel; it is something that I will face myself soon.

Yes, glad you're back--that return trip sounded pretty horrible. Rest up as much as you can.

Welcome back Gob
I don't think I could take traveling for two days. Heck, I have trouble going on a plane to bermuda or florida. I'm not afraid of flying, I just don't travel well. Car travel I can handle (aven enjoy), airport travel i don't handle well.
Really strange you have to go back to work tomorrow (or is it today there?). You would think they would give you two months off for this circumstance.

The thing is....

I go back to work for 3 days, then I've a fortnight off which I booked yonks ago as we have UK visitors, my dear old friends Alan and Jo, staying with us.

So not too shabby.

That's what I'm talking about.
:ok
For a minute there I thought you might have to work 5 days straight.

I am so living in the wrong country.

Welcome back, Gob. I'd say "take it easy," but, you know ...
