Just flagging this up way in advance, so's people know.
Friends, (that's most of you,)
In January 2018 I will be returning to the UK to live. That will render my blog obsolete, as I only ran it to keep UK friends appraised of what was happening in my life "down under", I do not think I can justify the cost of web-hosting, just for the sake of it.
Over the past years I have put out feelers for donations towards the cost (currently $120 USD pa,) and some have responded with generosity beyond the call of duty, while other regular users have taken the place for granted.
So, should I decide to call a day to my blogging, what would people here like to happen with the forum?
All ideas welcomed.
PS. fear not, even if my blog goes, I will still make my photography and music available in some form or other, you won't be bereft.

That a threat?

I will publicly declare that you can count on me for a US $10 per annum contribution as my more-than-fair share to help defray the expense. All I need to know is when and where to send it.
And should someone other than you take over the hosting the pledge is transferable. -"BB"-

Oh please, you're not going to stop blogging. How else to brag to your friends in the UK, and OZ, and the US, that while they're working their fingers to the bone, you're gallivanting around the world enjoying retirement.
(But if you do, I'm always good for a contribution towards costs)

To paraphrase Dickens, “You'd soon become an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of underdone potato. There'd be more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!”
So, I'd say, hollow threats. Without PlanB you'll be consigning yourself to oblivion and/or forever lost to the ether. That's a fate worse than death to a person of your stature and intensity. Just like Trump. Besides that, retirement ain't what it's cracked up to be. You'd soon find yourself in the home, rocking back and forth in your own feces, gumming your oatmeal, and babbling on about your glory days. Who wants that?
Anyway, you get the point. You asked for it... and got it.
BTW -- thanks for all you do.

I was thinking that a loose committee could run the place?

I'll continue to pitch in at least $10 a year, more if I can afford it.

I knew Gob was ancient like most of the rest of us: but I didn't know that he is a mariner. You can count on me for $10 or £10 (whichever is less on the day) to sustain this place. We can discuss the outrageous price of UK housing because we are currently torn between staying in the Trump-addled US or moving back to post-Brexit UK. Uzbekistan is currently running third if I understand correctly but Central African Republic is putting up a good fight for a podium finish.

I found a way to earn some extra money so I'm in for whatever I can do to help. I've got a cardboard sign at the ready and plan to stand in front of a few neighborhood stores with it beginning tomorrow.
My sign says: Plan B and Gob's Blog are in Danger of Extinction. Please Help.
In case that doesn't work I have a backup sign that says: I'm an Unemployed Recently Evicted Disabled Iraqi Veteran Widower with 3 Autistic Children and I Help Abandoned Puppies. Can You Help Me?
