Happy Birthday, Lord Jim, Baron of Cardiff!

I join the cheers. This is a happy reprieve from the mainstream news of the day. In the (decades?) since we first met in this virtual media, you have hoisted me on my own petard many times.

LJ - in commemoration of the day, and in the spirit of Bono, I forgive the debt of $20 you still owe me. I know how that has hung over your head since you so unwisely incurred it all those years ago and how your inability to pay has inhibited your economic growth. It's the least I can do. Don't thank me now - do that by paying it forward when you are in a position to do so.
ETA - PS - I think Jim Callaghan in MGM's pic is wearing the JC pinstripe from the bolt of suiting Jimmy Carter gave him. Joseph Conrad could also have used a few meters of it.

A little late but I'll add my voice to the chorus.
I'd also like to note that this year's celebration of Lord Jim's natal day also sees the 20th anniversary of my initial postings to the original Car Talk/Café d'Artè bulletin board — the first small steps on the strange and curious journey that has led me here.
And Lord Jim has been a part of that journey since Day 1. It was he, in fact, who paid me my first compliment on one of my early posts there (thought I'd forgotten, eh?). Thanks, bro. -"BB"-

It was your brothday? I'm always the last to know (and I have to check these threads more often). Hope it was a good one.

I figured he was old, but I didn't think he was beyond eating solid foods.

You caught that, huh? It takes a keen wit to create an apparent typo like that.

And sharing this date in history, in 1692 the Salem witch trials are ended by a letter from Massachusetts Governor Sir William Phips.
