Call me slow and uninformed if you like, but one of the downsides of retirement is that you lose your natural triggers about dates. I have only just in the last few minutes learned that Thanksgiving is this week and not next. I know it's the fourth Thursday but I hadn't been counting and assumed that we had another week yet to get ready. When you are working it can't get by you: you have to arrange Thanksgiving work shifts where you take into account all sorts of things you probably shouldn't (I know that Fred can always use the extra cash for a holiday shift and that Marcia's mother is coming in from out of town and Hamid is not an American or a Christian so he is reliable for July 4th and Christmas Day every year and what the hell, I'll do it with Fred). Now I understand why my wife, whom I adore, asked me yesterday to check how many eggs we have in the fridge. It's all starting to make sense.

Thanks, Andy.  And I'd like to offer sincere wishes for a happy Thanksgiving to everyone here.  Even liberty and wesw.  I still think they're a pair of idiots in a poker game where everyone else is holding a full house — or at least playing with a full deck — but I can set aside my feelings for one day and extend a symbolic hand of friendship.

Besides, this place would be boring as hell (or the InfoWars website) if everyone agreed with everybody else....

I've been inundated and/or assaulted by so many Christmas commercials and reminds that I totally forgot about Thanksgiving.

I haven't seen one T'giving decoration anywhere.
