Secure Board?

Post by Burning Petard »

I have been away from this board for about 2 weeks. When ever I log in I see 'theplanbforum.com' at the very top line of the window. But now there is something new. It says 'Not Secure'

Is this a change for the board, for a change on my internet connection?

It's not a change unless you are now using a different browser than before; Chrome, for example, has been showing that warning for all connections that are not https for some time. It's to alert you not to enter any sensitive data, such as credit card numbers, because it will not be encrypted.

I haven't noticed if or when it changed because I never really paid attention. Most websites I go to, including YouTube, are secured so this could be something that has changed. There's not a lot to worry about here as long as you don't post personal information, but a hacker could hijack your password. I'm interested in what our administrators have to say about this too.

I don’t think it means you need to worry about being hacked through using the site - it’s just to let you know it’s an http and not an httpS, s = secure.

Of course anyone actively posting here is likely insecure in some aspect.

I plead failing memory due to age and general mental sloppiness that has been my lot long before I was eligible for AARP.

As noted above, I asked a similar question a year ago and there were similar answers. What has changed is that I have had OS updates that now give me the same information, but with slightly different icons.
