Malware and the new CSB forum

Post by The Hen »

Have other posters here been having a lot of issues with Malware being uploaded on their computers? We have.

Today I was using the Hatch's brand new Lap tap (with different anti-virus software) when a warning came up when I went to open the new CSB's forums. Apparently it is a Malware distributin point.

I'll leave well enough alone and I won't be logging in again until I am satisfied that the distribution of Malware is NO LONGER OCCURRING there.

Lo, you might like to let the G know.
Bah!

I wasn't aware it, and I have a good system in place now, that alerts me to malware.
...but I'll let him know. ;)

well, we have been being hit continuously with Malware. When I went to use the Hatch's brand new bells and whistles laptop I came up with a BIG alert.

I am now convinced that is where all my Malware has been coming from.

I won't be using it until it is no longer a distribution point.

It occurs to me you could also leave a PM for Gar at the old CSB? He's always willing to help resolve issues. :)

Except I can not access the old CSB for 14 hours a day due to my job. The remaining 10 hours I have to access it, I also have a life to lead which is why there aren't that many posts made by me on any Boards.

So I will just go on the fact that the G will have read this topic here.

Thanks for your suggestion though.

His life may not lead him to have to the time read here; since he does take the time to read all his PM's and emails to resolve issues. Just another suggestion, maybe you could fore go one less poke post to make one more friendly message?

I'm sure if it is a malware issue, it will come up for others who don't mind talking to him.

Bugger! So that's where it's been coming from.

Nasty little malware too...

Thanks for the heads up Hen!
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Lo - I don't mind talking to him. HOWEVER (in big letters so you can understand), I CAN'T ACCESS THE OLD CSB AT WORK AND THE NEW CSB HAS MALWARE.

I know the G reads this site so he is NOW aware of the isse.

Sean has confirmed it has affected him as well. You might be better off getting better Anti-Mal software instead of having a go at me.

So fuck off (nicely). :)

This redirect virus is a pain in the arse, I thought I'd got rid of it once, but it's reappeared, screwing with everything.

I thought it was due to me and Jim visiting the same porns sites...

Why? Have you been visiting hornyrussianbitches.com too? :ok

Yes, and opening new windows with redirects. I've just done three reboots, AVG antivirus has taken out a new malware each time, I'm living in hope it's caught it.

Thanks Sean. Much appreciated. I didn't realise it was so difficult for people with access to his sites.

Thanks for letting me know how difficult things are for you to accomplish Lo. I will take that into consideration next time.

That was the funny thing....

I don't visit porn sites on this computer....(I save that for the one with the wide screen monitor....)

Here's how I finally got rid of the re-direct virus:

I downloaded and ran the free TDSS Rootkiller software from this site:

http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/so ... =208280684

That got rid of it temporarily, but it came back....(In fact this prick of a virus was so pernicious, it wouldn't even let me re-run the software again unless I re-set the computer to an earlier date)

I then downloaded the "XoftSpySE" software from this site:

http://www.paretologic.com/products/index.aspx

It's the one at the bottom of the page...it only scans for free, but the cost for the cleaning version is only $19.97... (and I checked them out, they're a reputable company, and if it doesn't work they have 60 day money back policy)

So here's what I did:

I did a re-set to a time before I had the virus....

I then immediately ran the TDSS Rootkiller...

I then immediately ran the fast scan of the XoftSpySE software (which only takes a couple of minutes) it found the "websearch" virus...

I then picked the "clean" option, let it do it's thing, and re-booted....

That was about a week ago and I haven't had the problem since.

AVG didn't get it, I still get random pages opening.

The bastards who designed it should be hung.,.

I bet they're Muslims too!

Now then, will anyone be daft enough to bite?

Strop, I have AVG, and I have Avast...

Neither one of them worked on this. Even on full scan....

(Obviously, I wasn't going to pay any additional money if I could avoid it.... 8-) )
