Re: General Comment Thread
Doubt as sin. — Christianity has done its utmost to close the circle and declared even doubt to be sin. One is supposed to be cast into belief without reason, by a miracle, and from then on to swim in it as in the brightest and least ambiguous of elements: even a glance towards land, even the thought that one perhaps exists for something else as well as swimming, even the slightest impulse of our amphibious nature — is sin! And notice that all this means that the foundation of belief and all reflection on its origin is likewise excluded as sinful. What is wanted are blindness and intoxication and an eternal song over the waves in which reason has drowned. ~ Nietzsche

"No it isn't"
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Honestly, I have nothing to say but I'm gonna say it anyway. I should run for congress.

Let me know where to send my modest campaign contribution.

No private comments allowed, though.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Re: General Comment Thread
If we accept private comments in a general way, I believe that would be considered a major breakthrough.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

We should avoid rank comments though.
