Unless I'm misunderstanding something, the issue is simple. Gob is fine with keeping Plan B alive but doesn't want to be the money handler / bill payer anymore. If it really is that simple, my only input for a possible way to keep things running here is what I wrote above. It's not a plan. It's just an offer. In my opinion, any further thoughts from the membership should be given within the confines of this thread because everyone who is interested should know what's being discussed.

Gob - is there any administrative burden beyond the money thing? Do you have to regularly cleanup spam - porn offers - etc? Or does it pretty much run itself once the initial set up is done?

And PS I agree with Joe - there seems little point in trying to come to some sort of consensus using PMs.

Seems to run pretty sweetly, the hosting company are pretty efficient.

I've contacted them about making Plan B a separate entity to the blog. Will report back as soon as I hear.

Furthermore, throwing out the ‘option’ that you’ll walk away from the board effectively shutting it down is very much a threat when nobody else holds a set of keys to the works so it could be kept going by others if you get your pants in a twist, or drive your van off a cliff into the ocean.
It would only be a "threat" if I was offering no other choices, I offered more. More than that I asked for input and alternatives.

Can you imagine this situation; THUG: "Give me your wallet, or I'm going to beat you up. Or maybe we could negotiate a loan, or perhaps we could arrange for you to buy me a beer. What are your thoughts on the matter?"

No wonder you failed as a lawyer.

It takes a really, really small man to make those kinds of totally unfounded personal attacks repeatedly. I feel sorry for you, Gob. Andrew D had you pegged, that’s for sure.

Typical childish wounded male ego response.

Everyone who saw me lawyer knows that I was a very good lawyer, highly competent and having great compassion for clients and other parties to actions I handled. Never any discipline or even client complaints. My leaving the practice of law was a matter of health, not competence.
That's according to your narrative, Ms. Trump.

I had no idea she was actually a small man.

Meanwhile I do think it would be a good idea for an active member to hold a spare set of keys to the joint as well as take over the financial annoyance.

Sorry I've been unable to respond in this thread. Have been in hospital for the last 2 and a half weeks w/ pulmonary embolisms (plural) and pneumonia. I definitely want very much for this board to continue and definitely want to contribute financially to that goal. I think it was Andy who mentioned the figure of $25/yr? and I would be fine with that or even more.

I had wondered where you’d gotten to and I’m sorry I didn’t ask after you - given recent board losses, I’m a little reluctant to ask when someone isn’t posting.

So glad you are mending and back home near your keyboard!

That's no fun, Econo as of course you well know. Speaking as a 5x coronary bypass patient (now 10 years and 2 months ago) it's pretty easy to take it as a wake up call and finally do what the doctors tell us in terms of losing weight, stopping smoking, cutting down on fatty foods and getting regular exercise. But wine in moderation is fine so I will raise a glass in your direction tonight.

Might be able to go home tomorrow, depending on O2 requirements/assessments.
