Circling the drain...
Now what does that mean? What did it mean when this was said:
There are those who are here to cause trouble because their favoured playground is circling the drain. Seeing this place thrive is getting under their skin,
thrive?

The only new members are porn and drug spammers? I might need a new definition of 'thrive'....
Is this normal website behaviour?

I could go on, but the result is the same everywhere I look.
What could possibly be the difference why there is such large disparity?
Oh thats right, the other places dont have a core subset of members - in control - who strive to be as awful a prick as they can to others and exhibit dishonesty at every glance. I guess Edi was right, people in general DO eschew that behaviour.
If it were up to me, and Im just saying, some people need a good shit kickin. Or at least time to examine their failed lives that drive them to behave this way.

Feel free to invite new members if you want. Feel free to join other boards and not participate here.
What you get from this Board is entirely up to you. if you are getting nothing then I think you know the answer to your dilemma.

AS soon as Quaddy's intellectual inadequacy is shown up here, he starts to think the place is going to the dogs. How very immature of him.
This place was set up for those who didn't like the way the CSB was going.
There was always the understanding that should Gar's new board take off, many would return to that.
We have attracted new members in (Stoat, SMF) and old posters have return to the fold (Grimby, Aardy, Alice.)
There has been no real attempt since the inception of the board to recruit new members.
Lo and Quaddy have had their own little attention seeking dramas here, it obviously fills a need in them.
When people slap them down for their behaviours they try (as did Edi and Gwen on the CSB of old) to claim they are in the right and that everyone else is in the wrong. They get little or no support in this.
Lo seems to think her behaviour is a recruiting tool for Gar's boards, I couldn't think of anything less apposite, outside of Steve campaigning for him here.
If this board is "circling the drain," then most of us are enjoying that circling, and will continue to do so.
If the board fails, so be it, it's not the end of the world.
Grow up Quaddy you immature idiot.
My last word in this thread.

I have no problems here and I like it. I do not dislike anyone here and there is enough variety in the subjects and those participating in those discussions for them to not get stale. To me, the old CSB got stale. The new CSB was un-navigable and had too much "bling" (to me anyway) so I have not been back.

That, in a nutshell, about sums it up for me also.

Correction:
This place was set up for those who didn't like the way the CSB was going [under Gwen]
There was always the understanding that should Gar's new board take off, [sans the trio) many would return to that.
Gar did not banish the trio, but welcomed all. [Odd that banishing the trio, would mean banning them; which is also what is claimed to be opposed Leaving Gar in a no win situation.]
Meanwhile, Gob has tried to instigate a new 'State of Affairs' that says we must recruit CSB posters to Plan B, to thwart the trio, regardless that it harms Gar.
Gar with friends like these ...?

And where in that post did you read anything about the trio being banished or banned Lo?
If you want to add words to somebody's quote at least have the fucking basic courtesy to show that they are your words and not those of the quoted poster. You are trying to create drama where there is none. That is not helpful to anybody, Gar included.
And I would be most grateful if you could point me to the "state of affairs" you mentioned. I must've missed that one.
Or maybe you are talking out of your arse again...

I too agree with Oldr and I will also say that what we have here is, with a few unpleasent exceptions, a healthy community that with some care will grow into something we can all be comfortable with for some time to come. I have come to know many here personally. Some I find offensive, they are the few, however I can put aside my personal feelings and accept them for their opinions and appreciate them. Loki showed me the way to understand and accept not only my own failings but also those of others. In effect he taught me not to judge others. For what it's worth I think this forum has the potential to be a fantastic opportunity to grow and become a very worthwhile universal communtiy, One which I will be very proud to be a citizen of.

Gosh Lo. How low will you go?
Only YOU can answer that, but it looks like you are getting further and further down that ladder.
Enjoy it at the bottom.
I'll be waving down at you from up here.

Sorry to break my "last word" promise (I do wish you hadn't quoted that Hen!).
But that is the biggest pile of lying shit that has ever been posted here Lo, and with your run of recent form that's saying something.

Lo, why do you want to be Plan B's troll and chief trouble maker?
Did not the good General tell you himself to STOP IT?
I do believe he did.

She was put up to it by those who don't have any scruples and pretended to befriend an addict in order to use her for their own purposes.

I vehemently disagree Scooter. The G-Man would never stoop to that level. . .

I never suggested it was Gar, but certainly those involved are using her affection for Gar to get her worked up about nonexistant slights against him which they have invented by twisting everyone's words.
However, if he happens to have checked in over here and seen what she is up to, or if he has been looking at his own site and seen that she has been trying to stir up shit about this place over there as well, and he hasn't seen fit to call her on it, then perhaps that affection isn't reciprocated as much as she believes.
Of course, those who are close enough to Gar might want to get his ear long enough to take a look at what she is supposedly doing in his supposed defense, in case he is inclined to tell her to knock it off.
Since, however, she has already shit all over one person she claims to respect (Meade), who told her in no uncertain terms to stop, Gar's admonition will probably also get lost in the echo of the empty liguor bottle.

God himself could tell that fat little idiot to knock it off and she wouldn't do it. My lord she is having the time of her life doing this, getting all liquored up and getting all the attention she craves. She is as thick as a friggin' plank. The absolute best thing you can do is ignore her completely. Maybe when absolutely no one responds to her, her lies, any of it, she will finally slink off and STFU.

Ok, so I ask a question about why this place fails to thrive and why it appears to be circling the drain as BBS websites go, am pretty much told Im full of shit. Then the subset of people that turn away newcomers by the droves, show up and fill yet another thread that will show up FIRST to any prospective newcomers.
Way to prove a point? I mean c'mon you make this almost comical.
On another BBS we are having a discussion about these topics and why people cannot be trusted to not have moderators. If no one objects, I clipped this thread and posted it over there. Nothing beats a real world example.
