De-Toxifying the board

Post by Gob »

Hen has made a request in the religion forum;
The Hen wrote:Just a brief comment rom me ....

Can we lay off the "alcoholic LoCAtek" comments please.

I realise that her postings are all over the place and seem just to be for causing a ruckus on the Board for whatever purpose she has decided on for the day.

But can we just pick apart how stupid they are without reference to what Lo may, or may not, have had to drink?
For her own reasons, Locatek has become something of a "Steve" on this board, and I think it has driven people away. I will happily at admit that my indulging her, and responding to her nonsense has gone to further this. I will now only respond to her posts/threads if there is a genuine point of debate to them.

Sean and Scooter have also agreed to desist, good on them.

I hope some of the people who are not posting, or who may have been put off posting, by these episodes will return to posting.
Cheers,

Gob.

Hear, hear.

I sincerely apologise if any of my posts played any part in people not posting here. It was certainly not my intention.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Um yea, I was doing that, and reasonably minding my own business, while posting threads for discussion; when my supposed '~Steve behavior' was blamed for paparazzi piddling all over the place. Personally, as stated, I'm glad for the personal responsibility, that now says one is to blame for their own behavior.

If it's all pseudo-sincerity to gain back membership; I can't be blamed for that either, can I? :shrug

You can be blamed for your actions on this Board.

Others can be blamed for theirs.

I have requested that they desist. They have agreed. Please stop blaming others when they have agreed to stop their behaviours.

If you would now start being the reasonable person I know you can be, I would be happy with that. Otherwise, I would be really happy if you just posted where you ARE happy, which obviously isn't here.

Thanks
Bah!

I assure you that, you or this board, are not responsible for my happiness in any way.

I wasn't suggesting that either party was responsible for the happiness of the other.

I was suggesting that you only post on Boards where you are happy, which would seem to exclude this one.

However, the choice is yours.

. paparazzi 214 up, 34 down

1) Comes from a character in the film 'La Dolce Vita' directed by Federico Fellini. 'Paparazzo' is the name of a celebrity photographer in the film.

2) Short, anoying, balding photographer with a taste for long lenses.

Italian for "annoying fly." Used as described in the above definition.

Urban Dictionary
In other languages

A transliteration of "paparazzi" is used in several languages that do not use the Latin alphabet, including Japanese, Korean, Russian and Thai. Chinese uses "狗仔隊", meaning "puppy squad."

Since you're surfing definitions;
Some signs that you may be a control freak.

Control freaks rarely recognize they are one. Admitting you are a control freak is sort of difficult because it requires you to acknowledge an unflattering thing about yourself. It really takes quite a bit of healthy introspection and self-honesty. These things seem fairly rare in our culture.

We don’t like to admit we might be flawed. Of course, control freaks especially hate to admit flaws because self-righteousness is really central to the psyche. Control freaks are usually convinced they know the right way for everyone else to run their lives.

Being an alcoholic myself I know what it takes to not drink alcohol so I do not involve myself in the accusations of whether someone is drinking and posting (or drinking and doing anything, for that matter).
I do have to say that I saw nothing "controlling" in any of Hens posts in this thread. She made a request to stop the "alcohol" references in relation to loCatek. Not a demand nor anything like it. Nor did I see where she tried to control what loCatek had to say. But that's just this alcholics take on it.
Carry on.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
The courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference.
