This board has reached a point where simple disagreements turn, for no evident reason, into major ruptures.

Something as relatively inconsequential as whether one ought to use the term "pedophile" or the term "pederast" or some other term to refer to a child-rapist suddenly erupts into a pissing match which results in someone's using (or, at least, claiming to use) that pox on all of us commonly known as the "ignore" function.

But some people are evidently immune.

@meric@nwom@n, who left this board because she found herself unable to drum up much support for her campaign to vilify my family in a dispute to which she was not even a party until she chose to make herself one for no apparent reason, was immune. It didn't matter how she treated others here; she was among the chosen few.

bigskygal is also evidently immune. It doesn't matter that she, lamentably, threw her whole ethical compass overboard. (I offered her words of encouragement when she told me that she had decided to become a prosecutor; I, with what turned out to be foolish optimism, hoped that she would bring a much needed ethical perspective to that position.
