I can't recall if the story was posted here about the mother struggling with Facebook to access her deceased son's account? I looked but couldn't find it . . .

Anyway, just wondering if folks here have ever given much thought to the disposition of their online lives upon IRL death?

At another board where I post, we just learned of the death by colon cancer of a longtime poster by her daughter, who logged in to ask that her mother's account be cancelled. The subject matter of that particular forum caused the daughter to wonder, I'm sure, about a part of her mother's life that was entirely unknown to the daughter.

I don't think so.

I have a list that has the passwords of a few places that I either visit or used to visit for various reasons. I don't know that my kids would think to go to any of those places and announce my passing.

I figured I'd count on Guin. I'd do the same for her.

That's pretty far down on the priority list to care about.

At Kelly's insistence, we finally put together a "will"...

I tried to explain to her that as it is my intent to live forever, such documents are superfluous....

She insisted that we put something together just in case we don't live Forever...

Wow! Does this subject strike home.. Tanaicia and I were just discussing this ...'cussing being the operative word? . I could elaborate but I would have to kill you. I'm with Jim I am simply Not going to die. Strange how people tend to disagree and insist upon one having enough "Life" Insurance to bury one's punk ass. "Life Insurance" really? an Oxymoron if ever there was. And all said and done, She was correct. The Average cost of a funeral is around 10 Grand. And that is going on the cheap. And I being dead couldn't give a rats arse, however, I would not want to leave a financial burden on my loved ones; AND would like to leave a windfall to my children. So, long story short, WE are discussing how to pay for my imminent death. I love her So much... however, I am not drinking anymore Tea or Coffee in this house. Strictly Gatorade for me thanks...(sealed from the corner store)

I'm donating my organs and my cadaver to science - no burial costs. A memorial gathering, if anyone wants one, should be cheap enough.

I simply don't have time to die...

There are times that I wish that I could just go paws up and keel over;....

But I simply don't have that as an option....

Take it from someone who almost had to deal with an intestacy, you don't want to put whoever survives you through that insanity. Make a will and take a look at it every few years to make sure it still works for you. Even better, hold as many of your assets as possible jointly with right of survivorship, and title will pass to your spouse automatically without having to be probated, which will save you money.

Besides which, death and the prospect of inheritance can do funny things even to the least likely people. You don't want someone claiming a right to a piece of the estate when you didn't intend for them to have it, because even responding to the claim is going to cost the estate money, even if it is ultimately unsuccessful.

I have a twelve year old daughter and a two and a half year old son...

I simply do not have the time to get old; I'll get 'round to that eventually.....

When I do have the time to get old, you'll be the first to know...

Here one can donate their body or their organs but not both ( UAMS will not take an organ donor). So I told my wife of they turn down my body donate my organs.

Now if they take my body they will use it for 2 years then cook it and send it back to a survivor, I told her then to pour my ashes into Bayou Bartholomew. The out of pocket expense is the ambulance ride up and and the car ride back. I guess if nobody come to pick me up my remains go to the land fill.

If the alternative I still want to be cooked and poured into the Bayou...

I'd prefer to be cooked and eaten.

If I don't post here for a long time without giving a reason before I go, just assume I'm dead.

In my will I have chosen to have my body shredded and thrown in the compost heap in my backyard, and after I become mulch, to be spread over freshly planted corn.

After the corn grows and is harvested, I want all of my surviving relatives and friends to have a party at which they will prepare the corn as a special meal.

Before the meal starts I'm sure someone will say, "Aw shucks! I kinda miss him."

I'm sure all in attendance will get an ear full listening to corny stories about you.
