scallops, pickled ginger, and pear
That sounds quite yummy as a nice light starter...
very few hospitals will offer lamb on their menu.
Thanks for the heads-up on that Ray...

The first question I always ask myself when deciding what to prepare for a meal is, "what would they serve in a hospital?" 8-)

I don't hail from "cattle-country" but I'm having a hard time remembering a single Easter my entire life where I didn't have lamb...(this year we had a boneless leg of lamb...My mother always over cooked it; I prefer to prepare it "French style" so it's pink in the middle rather than grey)

When it comes to Lamb I am pretty much the anti-Ray...

I love lamb in almost any form...

leg of lamb, lamb chops, rack of lamb, lamb stew, lamb shish kebob, lamb curry, lamb sausage, Mongolian lamb, ( there's a Chinese restaurant near us that makes fantastic Mongolian lamb) lamb chow mein, lamb nan, lamb samosas, lamb gyros, lamb burgers, and of course lamb pasties...

Sliced, cubed or ground, on the bone or off...

Indian style, Mediterranean style, Mid Eastern style, Asian style, Ethiopian style, European style, or American style...

If you're serving lamb, you can always set a place for me... :ok

Me too. Pretty much my entire family.

On Sundays, before leaving for church, my father would put a leg of lamb (bone in) in the roasting pan, rubbed with olive oil, rosemary, salt and pepper, then add canned tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, and onions to the pan. He would put the cover on, and put it in the oven at say 250-275. When we came back, 6 hours after it went into the oven, the meat would be falling off the bone, and we would have "lamb with spoon" for Sunday dinner. It was sooooo good. Hmmmmmm. A great, simple, family meal.

Slow cooked lamb is great--I made a 6+hour leg of lamb on Easter, roasting it over white burgundy and root vegetables at a low temperature--it came out perfectly, falling off the bone with the infused burgundy flavor (and that became a nice sauce to boot (I imagine you could even have cooked potatoes in it before the lamb was done).

But mostly I am with jim and prefer rare to medium rare lamb (especially chops, but a leg cooked at a higher temperature as well). Lamb is always something I enjoy.

I've only had lamb a half dozen times in my life, but always loved it.

There is a distaste for lamb that runs in our family, my grandfather couldn't abide it, my mother will tolerate it barbecued because the smokiness masks any offputting taste, and I lose my appetite just smelling it being cooked. The one exception - we have all eaten lamb raised high in the Apennines, where they spend most of their lives grazing in mountain pastures instead of being warehoused in barns, and it was absolutely delicious. I would guess there would be some New Zealand lamb raised the same way, but they sure don't send it here.

Anyone ever had Yak meat?

They found some 300lbs of Yak meat being smuggled in at JFK airport.

I like lamb...my wife and stepfather are indifferent to it, my mother doesn't like it.

Last time I had lamb, one of my cats went nuts...which may have been due to smelling the lamb cooking, or may have been a signal from her home planet.

Oddly, most denominations have chosen to celebrate on my birthday this year.

I think they're finally coming around to my kind of thinking.

Now there's an Easter egg hunt I might want to get in on:
