The current and future Status of the CSB

Post by Crackpot »

Now:
The board has been archived and taken down.

Future:

Yes, it has one.

Beyond that nothing is certain.

Right now Gar is trying to decide if there is any reason to preserve the boards current incarnation and has left his e- mail: JP(at)AFAA.COM and his phone number (to be provided upon request to me (or anyone else privy to that information i suppose) provided that they appear of sound mind) for anyone who wishes to discuss it's fate.

Otherwise the website will be back new, improved and totally different some time in the future.

In short unless the readership sees it as worth saving the CSB as we knew it (good and bad) is history.

Pulling th eplug because he is pissed off with the state of the board seems counterproductive IMHO, but he can do what he wants. If anf when it comes back, I'll see if it will be worth posting there anymore. Based on the comments, however, there seem to be a lot of people hellbent on changing what i saw as some of the more attracive features of the board, including lack of moderators. I hate to think the free speech of the CSB will go that way, but I think it will, and another good posting venue will be lost.

TO tell you the truth given the state the board was in pulling the plug at least short term makes perfect sense to me. As long as the board was up many won't actually stop and think about what they want out of the board (though some I'm sure still wont). It's just way too easy to keep bickering.

As to the moderators I think people are making a little too much out of that In theory this place is moderated in that it has been agreed that in the face of relentless trolling something would be done. I think what Gar was trying to get across was that the "freedom of speech as suicide pact" model that some had adopted was going by the wayside. And in order to do that some one or some people have to be empowered to make the call when things are going too far.

I agree that pulling the plug was a good thing short term. (Though a bit of warning would have been nice.)

I'll await the new board. If it is something of interest, with friends old and new, I'll happily participate.

My attitude towards Edi Steve and Gwen, should they return, will be determined by their attitude to me.

In the meantime, and possibly/probably beyond, can I interest you in a little board known as "Plan B"? ;)

Just got finished talking to Gar.

I encourage anyone that cares about the CSB to give him a holler...

I spoke with him for about an hour and a half last night. (Thanks Keld.)

The bottom line appears to be that it will be up to the members to determine the fate of the CSB. Whether through their interest or their lack of it.

So I would strongly suggest that if a person would like to see the CSB survive that they do indeed contact Gar ASAP.

I would convey my lack of interest in the CSB as it was when the doors closed. Two administrators, one a nasty high-handed snot-ball and the other sans balls and blind. Steve. Need I say more.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

May I remind you that you once tried to contact G-Man to buy to CSB. So it didn't really mean that little to you at one stage.

True, but that was then and this is now. Things change and right now, after witnessing some of what went down this week I am of the mind to just let it die.

Oh I would be childish enough to buy it just to piss Editec off though....

Please buy the CSB, @W.

I'm sure, having known you all these years and having witnessed your loving way of communicating your wants & needs, that you could charm anyone, including Garealb, into doing just about anything.

I'll even throw in a few bucks to help you out.

Yup, I wonder where ~Steve is trollin' now?

Who’s trollin' now, who’s trollin' now
Whose heart is achin’ for breakin’ each vow
Who’s sad and blue, who’s scrollin’ too
Just like I scrolled over you

Right to the end, just like a friend
I tried to warn you somehow
You had your way, now you must pay
I’m glad that you’re trollin' now

You had your way, now you must pay
I’m glad that you’re trollin' now

Yup, I wonder where ~Steve is trollin' now?
I remember him saying several times that he had been kicked off and banned from a number of forums and blogs....

Funny that... :D

Actually, there are any number of kooky, paranoid conspiracy nut web sites where I'm sure he'd be as welcome as the flowers in spring...

But I don't think Steve would be happy with that...

Steve' has a need to harass and insult normal people...(After all, he believes he is trying to bring enlightenment to weak minded sheeple)

Right now I would imagine he's probably bombarding Gar with emails and commiserating with editec and Gwen, about how everyone but them was responsible for the CSB's demise...

They might put up with him at Argue With Everyone, but that site has so many participants that he wouldn't be able to make himself the center of attention, another element critical to his happiness...

As for editec....

I remember him saying that he was posting in some extreme right-wing forum during the year he was off the board...

Perhaps he'll go back there....

Perhaps they will start their own forum. It could welcome intellectual greats like Kiko and Steve, enablers like Gwen and lying shitheads like Eddie and Quad. Wouldn't that be special?

Well as we've had a taste of what that could be like, I'm sure we'd all be rushing off to join in! :loon :beat

Contrary to what some may believe; I would suggest that people run in the opposite direction with all speed.

Once bitten and thrice shy and all of that. I have a very bitter taste in my mouth right now. And I am not eager to relive that experience any time to soon. No matter how much I have invested.

As I said before; Life is too short.

Perhaps I should clarify: The G-Man is as disgusted as we are. Even given the limited info he has been able to assimilate.

I really do not see the parties most egregious as admitting their guilt happening anytime soon. (read NEVER)

So Gar is looking at this and saying; Why should I bother?

And who can blame him?

He made it clear to me that he will fight for the CSB. But made it equally clear that only if there is enough interest?

That he will revamp: and why not?

Put yourself in his shoes for a moment.

The poor bastard has been placed in an impossible situation.

I really do NOT want to see more of the same with bells and whistles.

If that is the case? I'm gone. But let's give it a chance..

OK?

Just sayin'

Oh, and btw, I am moving to MN to start my new life with Tanacia.

She is a totally awesome lady that has supported me through thick and thin when no one else would.

There is no other person in this world that I trust more than her.

That is a fact.

Peace out~
