December 10 th. 2002 to December 10 th. 2012
(with us.)

Unfortunately his problems became greater than his enjoyment of life, so we made the hardest decision we have made for a very long time.

He was a good dog.

Thanks everyone.

It's been a horrible morning, but it's over now.

We were all with him when he went, he knew he was loved.

Still keep expecting to trip over the big lump.

I remember how I felt 11 months ago...I know exactly what you are feeling now. :(

And I have three cats, two of them getting kind of old. :(

By coincidence, right after seeing this thread I saw a lovely tribute that Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace did for his family's Yellow Lab Winston who just passed away...(he was also 10 years old)

What he said at the end really rings true:

“We like to think we take care of these wonderful little guys, but once they’re gone you realize it’s the other way around.”

Sorry Gob and Hen and Hatch. It was a decision of love and the Barnster knew your love, as you knew his, for every minute of those ten years, even to the last second. Now - don't spoil it all by telling us about the many times you cursed him out for tripping you, farting and other doggy failures!

Oh god, the tales we could tell!

It's been nice today, just reminiscing over the old bugger, (though many tears have been shed while doing so.).

He was part of our family for ten years. I arrived in Aus in July 02, and he was adopted in December 02, so I've not really known Aus without him.

Thanks all, it's not as if we haven't had time to prepare ourselves though.

Pets, dogs especially in my case, can become part of the family in ways that even children sometimes envy. All of you have our deepest sympathy.
