Good on you Meade. I love turtles and tortioses. Keep a puddle of water and vary his diet a bit, but pretty much all veggies. He might like a worm or one of those centipedes you find, once in a while. His shell has probably healed to the point where nothing from the outside gets to his internals.
We found a red eared slider turtle who had a broken shell similar to the shell seen on your tortoise, and after careful examination, it was healed under the carapace so nothing inside was in danger. We've had him (her?) for over 15 years now.

Not likely. While I do have pictures of my turtles (I have had turtles since I was about 5yo) I am not big on posting (or even downloading) pictures. I still have my Minolta X700 35mm SLR which is my main picture taker.
