Just checking mine, nope, I'm fine

Testicle size 'really is what matters'
September 23, 2007

Testicle size is what counts for a clean bill of health and being able to produce children.

Most men are unaware of how important the size of their testes is in relation to their health, Professor Rob McLachlan, director of Andrology Australia, told Fairfax newspapers.

"I've seen men coming in with (testicles) the size of a sultana and they haven't realised (it's a problem) - it happens all the time," Prof McLachlan said.

Men need to be aware of their testicle size, to measure their own health.

"They don't know how big their testes should be - what's normal and what's abnormal," Prof McLachlan said.

Small testes can indicate there is a testosterone deficiency. This can make a man feel tired, lose muscle, gain fat, lose sex drive.

It could lead to osteoporosis or thinning of the bones. And it can also be a sign of infertility, with a higher risk of developing testicular cancer, Prof McLachlan says.

Genital examinations, which take about 30 seconds, are crucial for men and opens the channel for a diagnosis.

"You want to pick these conditions up in men when they are younger if you can because then you have the chance to intervene and give them 30, 40, 50 years of quality of life and protect them from issues such as thin bones," Prof McLachlan says.

To raise awareness of men's health, the male reproductive health centre Andrology Australia is producing orchidometers or different-sized beads.

They range from 1 ml to 35 ml in volume, which help doctors identify reproductive health disorders.

Testicles measured from 15 ml to 35 ml are in the normal range.

"If a man's testicles are the size of a sultana he should see his doctor," he said.

They may be fine, but you can't produce any children from them.
Bah!

Well Miles, according to Wiki, they are the same thing as a Thompson Seedless Grape....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sultana_%28grape%29

Which seems like a really odd thing to use as a unit of measurement, since in my experience they can vary widely in size from slightly larger than a pea, to slightly smaller than a Brazil Nut....

I dug out the old mircormeter from the tool box and am pleased to state that I'm off the scale.

I have a feeling that this is going to be one of those threads that's going to provide me with a lot more information than I need...

Come to think of it, it already has... :P

No really, there's something to this! I knew a guy who had suffered from testicular torsion of one testicle as a youth from a bicycle accident. (Yes, that's as painful as it sounds.) In spite of rushing to the emergency room and assurances from the doctors that he would be fine; from then on, one ball was slightly smaller than the other.

Conclusion: A big ball is a healthy ball!

A sultana is a raisin.

And if yours were the size of a sultana, it wouldn’t be a raisin’ either.
A sufficiently copious dose of bombast drenched in verbose writing is lethal to the truth.

Hear, hear LJ!

Just count yourself lucky that you're not the one who gets regaled with these stories when she gets home from work...
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

For some reason all my colleagues (which are female) Tell testicle tales with great relish...we all love them the fave is the testicles and the boat winch as its particularly gruesome and the our Doc (male) just about managed not to pass out when the Urologist pulled the testicle out, (scrotum was mangled, his balls had fallen out, held it up to the light and stated "if we get him to theatre now I reckon I can save this bugger"
