Dan Marino thought so tooBut they have an excellent team, Matty Ryan has the potential to be great, and I expect they will be back in the Superbowl soon.

Yeah, I gotta admit that's probably the standard against which all other chokes must be judged...The greatest choke of all time belongs to the New York Yankees, 2004, ALCS. Up 3 games to none, and 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th with one of the greatest closers of all time on the mound in Mariano Rivera. But we all know how that turned out....
It's tough to imagine how a team could blow it any worse than that...

There are no guarantees in any sport.oldr_n_wsr wrote:Dan Marino thought so tooBut they have an excellent team, Matty Ryan has the potential to be great, and I expect they will be back in the Superbowl soon.
See e.g., that coach you hired for a day, 17 years ago.

GAH!
Re: Anybody Followng The NFL Playoffs?
I think choking in the regular season and choking in the postseason are two different conversations. But yes, that was a spectacular choke.

True LJ, true. But of course in the case of the ALCS, that made almost everyone in America happy. Not so with Atlanta.....Lord Jim wrote:Yeah, I gotta admit that's probably the standard against which all other chokes must be judged...The greatest choke of all time belongs to the New York Yankees, 2004, ALCS. (But yeah, Guin - good for Edelman)
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Yes, Meade, my NYY-loving brother (also a Jets fan) hates the Pats because they win too much. Oh the irony......

I'm gonna just drop this here and run away...

Nope. I suspect Ryan is done.Guinevere wrote:The greatest choke of all time belongs to the New York Yankees, 2004, ALCS. I really feel sorry for the Falcons and their fans...That was not only the greatest choke job in the 51 Super Bowls, it was probably one of the worst chokes in a championship game for any sport in the history of professional sports...
I feel empathy for the Falcons and their fans, too, having lived through crushing defeats before. But they have an excellent team, Matty Ryan has the potential to be great, and I expect they will be back in the Superbowl soon.

Tom Brady refused an invitation to visit the White House just one time - when the invitation came from President Barack Obama.
I reserve the right to think very little of him.
