A wedding is a human-scaled event. It should be, economically speaking, a human-scaled event.

Being able to write a check for any amount, for any level of grandeur at all, does not dignify or sanctify anything. It's just sad.

My first wedding was weird and hippie-esque. Made my own 'costume'; held it outdoors; one fist-fight for entertainment.

The marriage lasted about a year.

My second was more traditional, but not fully: Wedding/Reception/Honeymoon ...on a strict budget, everything cut-cost. Fights reserved to the parking lot. Guests loved it for under 5K. General description was 'classy'.

Lasted eight years.

...not expecting, nor wanting another one. Hippy or Classy, no matter; I'll just wait to see if the relationship lasts first, and enjoy as it comes. :ok
